WOW this worked old iTunes uninstalled and latest iTunes installed. Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to post on this thread to help sort out my problem.What about trying the utility linked to by "Melchizedek Qui" in his/her post at the bottom of the following thread?

When you’ve used apps on macOS the concept of installing and uninstalling apps the way you do in windows seems truly bizarre (and has the risk of not working properly as the OP has found).0
