I use it to uninstall some products completely and have never paid. Yes it is quite simple to use. You get invited to upgrade to the "professional "version but don't have to. There is a button called uninstall at the top and a list of programs you can choose to uninstall0

Looks like some files that are needed for uninstall have been 'cleaned up' over the years. I don't know how to make iTunes happy without a lot of work. The fastest thing for ME to do would be to reinstall Windows instead of chasing this.0

I find iTunes a real pita. Great when it works .
Op: what version of Mac OS are you using ? For example , my old Mac mini ( OS X 10.6 I think ) , won't update any further .
Has your Mac got time machine ? If so , you maaY be able to go back o when it was working .
Have you got an external hard drive ? Very handy if you have0 -
