Nanny, thank you. I think the hardest thing for him and me if I'm honest is the change in his energy levels. Before he was able to keep going on tasks for hours if need be, now he has a few days like that but it's much rarer.

I had a phone call from an old friend, we had drifted apart over the years but kept up with Christmas cards, anyway she has invited us for coffee. It will be lovely to see her and her husband, who was a gp so it will be nice for Steve to chat with him. Hopefully we'll stay more in touch now, the second friend I've reconnected with in the last couple of years.

Gers thank you for your suggestion. We had an echo dot for Xmas but I think it would wake Mr Fix It if it was in the bedroom. If I was on my own it would be great, but I don't want to bump him off just yet, at least not while he's still useful ;). BTW sometimes he forgets who he's talking to and calls me Alexa . So maybe soon if he keeps that up ! I just need a better read out as black on blue is difficult for me to see now I'm almost as blind as a bat :D. I'm fine with red on black.
Snoozer please PM me any time, if you need too. I've had support from the lovely TA which was invaluable and I shall never forget her kindness.
Right now I'm going to weigh myself . if you hear someone sobbing .......... it'll be me

There are clocks available which project the time onto a wall or ceiling. This is just one example, there are many others - perhaps better ones.

Good evening chums ,well life is returning to normal now all the festivities are over.

My friend from Dartford came to see me today and we had a great long natter with lots of tea ,then went out to lunch in a Greene King pub locally and had a nice lunch for us both which only came to around £7.50 each ,so no cooking for me tonight as I am still full from lunch

Tomorrow morning I am hosting the U3A coffee morning in Dobbies and quiz night starts back tomorrow night so a busy day tomorrow .

My eldest DD is coming this Saturday afternoon for a couple of hours and I promised I will declutter my study (a.k.a. small back bedroom :)) of some of the paperwork that has accumulated in there and she will take it in to work to shred so it has given me the incentive to also do some decluttering I also have a bag of books to go to the CS and a couple of bags of clothes that I will never wear again.Once you get started it becomes quite addictive

Not been near a shop as yet this month, but will try to fit a food shop in on Wednesday.I have a small list of necessary bits to get but I am happily eating from my cupboards this month at the moment.Still have lots of odds and ends from Christmas still to eat so the food shopping bill will be quite small hopefully, mostly fresh fruit and veg, milk ,eggs and perhaps some ordinary cheddar cheese (all the fancy cheeses are nearly gone)

Hope everyone is like me almost back in the normal pattern of life again Christmas and New Year are nice, but I do like routine and normality.

    Have a good evening chums

Sorry to be late replying to your comment TA, but my dad passed away nearly 2 years ago and my mum has only been able to get rid of a few of his things. There is no hurry to get rid of your DH’s stuff until you want to.

I’ll go back to lurking now.
  • Aw thanks DANGERS it was nice of you to comment. I know, there is no rush at all.

My friend's mum lived in a council property and when she died my friend was told the property needed to be vacated, cleared and the keys handed in within just a couple of weeks. It was heartbreaking for her having to get rid of all her mum's stuff so quickly.

  • I took a teaset from my mums to the local hospice shop, I have taken a lot there lately, I have been doing mum and dads since about march, to be truthful I have found it very stressful (am understating lol) I wish they had done it themselves whilst they were able, its been hard work and upsetting for me, I thought it would only take a few weeks to sort out, but here we are and now I'm hoping to be sorted and tidy by about march this year.
