Morning all,
I need to deal with a couple of frogs that have been on my list too long this week first
Frog 1 - update ds2s medical/health diary, I have all the info but need to pull it together. It should take less then 15 minutes to sort, I've just got to make a start! Done in 20 minutes
Frog 2 - sort out musc1e food order and split into smaller portions , freeze and update freezer inventory Done, done and done
Then
* check banking/update spreadsheet & email it back to me as I've had a couple of problems lately getting the spreadsheet to either save or re-open Done
* all meals from stores
* continue decluttering and adding to the cs pile or recycle pile - want to drop these off tomorrow Done, took the cs bags today rather then cluttering up the hallway
* triage fridge and wipe out
* heating off until the kids come home at the earliest Done
* 2 loads of washing need doing on the quick 30 degree wash - will use a little bit less then normal in washing powder as I don't really have enough for the two loads and forgot to call and get some this morning! Done
* radiator shuffle ready for ^^ Done
* check for surveys on onepoll, swag$s and isay
* clear out email inboxes and unsubscribe from anything I can, too many offers coming through trying to tempt me into spending at the minute Done
Thats my start, hopefully I'll be back to add a lot more as the day goes on. Take care all.Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

Lunch at work is the killer for me, i need to start prepping meals and bringing them in. When your spending £6/£7 a day on food it really adds up!
Whoa! That's a lotta dosh for lunch! I quite like the challenge of making sure I have what I want for lunches (I actually work 12 hour shifts so take in B/L/D)
When we first started taking our lunches in (years ago now) the budget was bigger and we were having fancier lunches. Nice baguettes with nice filling - I'd try to replicate bistro lunches we would have out - pate, sliced cornichons and salad, roast beef & horseradish, nice ham & pickle etc. Now I tend to batch cook a soup and a more substantial dish, maybe a curry or stew and freeze in portions to grab out the night before. I tend to make about 10 portions and as I get to about 4 left do another batch so I can mix it up a bit. At the moment I have xmas dinner soup & black bean, chilli & chocolate soup. And I have a squash & pinto bean spicy stew.
Works for me and prob cost of both L&D for a week is about £4 or £5. I take fruit for snacks and maybe some greek yogurtDF as at 30/12/16

Talking of small things, I've just calculated the cost of diesel to haul my lazy, currently non-biking posterior to work and back each day.
£1.30. Every day, when it takes 10 minutes to cycle each way. That's £26 a month that could be eating away at my debt!!! £312 per year is not chump change.
It might be dark and cold, but cycling must resume next week. I'll break in gently - I will commit to cycling in the mornings. Bonus points available for post-lunch cycling0 -

It certainly does! Do you have access to any kitchen facilities at work – fridge/microwave etc?
I found (before I moved close enough to go home for lunch) that something I could heat up was WAY more enticing than a sandwich or salad.0 -
Hi Friday Fabulistas,
Useful day so far:
*Grocery shopping day - a bit over budget but only because we bought things we knew we needed for the week after next, as we saw them.on offer. Also added 6 items to our emergency supplies stash.
*All fruit & veg except 2 items from local market - excellent produce & much of it locally grown.
*Cashed in some Ipsos points for a £5 voucher.
*Sold £25 of Amazon voucher codes to mr f.
*Found a pot of money I am happy to raid to pay unexpected B&B stay.
*Vouchers, list & later prob a packed lunch, prepped ready for city centre trip....must pop in my coffee cup too in case of freebie.
*mr f off today as is owed time & he has volunteered to clean the bathroom & vacuum if I want to continue blitzing my HQ room. Deal!!
*More shredding to do - free bedding for worm composter & adding to normal.compost bins.
*Good news at last on the car front. Shan't relate the long highly unusual saga as I don't want to be identified, but we have been told we can exchange our vehicle at no cost to ourselves. A huge relief. A long complex saga.
*Knit more sleeve.
*No downstairs heating on until later.
*Have refused to succumb to cat's incessant demands for more food. He has plenty of biscuits he can eat so have told him to make a start on those or have a long wait.
Ok, off to do rest of job list.

Hi All,
Just spent a little while catching up on your week.
Not much going on the on here at the moment. Youngest DS3 has shingles and not allowed in school until everything has scabbed over (yuk). He isn't feeling particularly poorly at the moment though, but I'm in danger of cabin fever  He'll need to miss his first Beavers and a birthday party tomorrow. I didn't even know kids could get shingles!
He wanted to watch a DVD while his older brothers are at school, but (a) the DVD player is broken and (b) I can't find the DVD either. Minor meltdown as he wanted to buy it on Prime, but persuaded him to watch a free movie instead, bribed by some popcorn found in the larder. He wanted to spend his own money to buy it, so hopefully a little mini-money lesson there.
A couple of NSDs, but our house insurance is due. We've managed to pay for that in one hit as the payment plan had high charges. That's fine, but will reduce our overpayments to the CC this month. :-( First major purchase of the year done, now need to start a moneypot to cover it for next year. Need to update spreadsheets and reconcile banking.
Our revised tax credit award has come through, but I'm worried we will be receiving an overpayment. Need to triple-check this out and maybe put the 'extra' money aside next year in case the award is wrong....
Managed to off-load a sofa on the third attempt. It's not great condition so we offered it for free and were going to dump it if no takers. After a couple of no-shows  someone local would like it so we will deliver tomorrow. They offered me some money but I refused as we had originally said £0 and their house is closer than the dump anyway. Plus I get some space back in the Room of Doom.
Freezer dinner, but supplemented with a sneaky box of potato waffles for £1.
Looking at the above, I really need to achieve something worthwhile today!:rotfl: Off to collect DS1 & 2 from school, who don't know DS3 had the day off - much sibling jealousy will be forthcoming I expect!:rotfl:0 -

- hope he is better soon!

Neither did I - we thought he'd either grazed himself (the rash is in a line), then maybe some kind of contact rash/hive (he gets hives a lot) so has been at school all this week. I only took him to the chemist this morning because the rash had spread and Puritan/E45/Sudacrem wasn't working and got advised to go to GP. He took one look and said he was the youngest patient he'd seen with it, but not that uncommon. - Who knew?!
Alas, highly contagious in spreading chicken pox and the rash hasn't peaked. I'm hoping he hasn't started an outbreak at school before we realised!.....On a purely selfish note though, he will have to miss a birthday party tomorrow which I haven't bought a present for yet, so I'm wondering if I can save the money?
(It's a whole class party, not a close friend...) Or is that really bad of me?!.....:o:o

I wouldn't bother doing a gift as its a whole class party. My eldest was invited to a go karting party with just 5 people and I know the place was expensive, he was ill on the morning of the party and had to say he couldn't go, for that one I did send a present. I hope your son feels better soon.Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

Evening all :coffee: :hello:
I have survived the first week back at school, but suspect I'll be asleep in the next hour or so as I'm so exhausted.
Pleased to report that I've bagged another nsd today, and another day of avoiding eating out and takeaway. Easy to do when you're on the go from 7.30 until 4 with barely time to breathe (never mind anything like going to the loo). Came straight home from work and I've swallowed a couple of large frogs sorting out car and cat insurance - cashback on both and multipet discount so I think I've done it as frugally as possible.
Found 20p on my classroom floor, which I've used as my mini savings PAD.
