Is this a problem that cannot be fixed?

My laptop at the moment is running very slowly at the moment. I have ran a series of checks from AVG, Ccleaner, Spybot and SuperAntiSpyware free edition, but nothing has improved the overall performance.
At times the system simply stalls and the browser always takes several minutes to load. Is this a problem that can't be fixed or is there something I am not doing?
Thanks in advance.

Might be worth reinstalling the OS and see if that makes a difference. Remember to backup anything important first though."Gort, klaatu barada nikto"

Have a check of how many programmes are running in the background ie MSN or Adobe etc My old laptop had loads that started on startup, it took about 15 mins to get going  and browsing was so slow. Stopped all but the essential stuff and it speeded up quite a lot.ITV Winners Club #87 :eek:0

Have a look at this for your program start ups- https://www.malwarebytes.org/startuplite.php0

Just a thought, how much memory do you have? I have encountered quite a few Windows XP systems sold with 128 Mb RAM to keep the cost down which start out OK, but once a few pograms are installed tend to behave like yours, taking ages to open browser windows and just appearing to sieze up in use.
512Mb is a reasonable amount for Windows XP and the upgrade is good value for money.

Sorry, scrap that you will need more details.

You could keep the ones indicated and disable the rest, however Google the program names to understand what they are and ensure you don't need them because it really depends on how you use the computer.Cpqset

Avgemc - KEEP
