Ignored Parking Charge Notice

Options
Hi,
I would like some advice.

I received a PCN in early Jan 2018 for overstaying a 3 hour limit in my Gym car park by 40 mins. It was issued by Millennium Door and Event Security Ltd who were patrolling the car park on an ad hoc basis as people were parking in the gym to go to work. I was a member of the gym so would go into the gym in the morning then go onto work by all admissions.

I have ignored all correspondence starting with letters from Dept Recovery Plus. The fine went from £60 to now £160 and I have then had letters from Zenith Collections however I did not hear anything for about 6 months and now I have just had a letter from Gladstone Brooks saying that they have been instructed to commence legal action.

I do not really have a defence so should I just continue to ignore these letters. If they do take me to court how much will the fees likely to be? is there anyway out of this?

Any advice would be much appreciated

Millennium are litigious, so you need to either pay them off now, or give this your undivided attention, including much closer attention to detail, to avoid this collapsing around your ears, with a higher price to pay (~£175-£200) if you lose in court.

Go into ignore mode and risk a judgment in default against you with the possibility of a credit trashing CCJ, refusal of loan or mortgage facility, mobile phone contracts, or an affect on some employment positions/opportunities.

There's also the potential for a 5:00am visit, the sound of a clamp being attached to your car, a loud knock on your front door and the sight of the neighbours' curtains twitching.

  • Probably best to pay up then I suppose! Bit annoying considering i have ignored it for nearly a year now.

While no one here will recommend paying this where there is the prospect of fighting it (for which you will receive some help here), it does mean you have to make the commitment to fight.

The one main recommendation is that you should not do nothing and ignore this - that strategy is likely to deliver you the most dangerous outcome.

    Whaaat??

Where on earth did you read anything that makes you decide that, on this forum? We win 99% of defended useless Gladstones claims (not 'Brooks').

The only dodgy issue you might have is if your local court is Swansea. If not, then why think about paying when you are here on this forum?

Search the forum for Millennium claim or Millennium Gladstones.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • Thank you, I think you needed a bit more fighting spirit! Where do I go now however? Do I need to write to them to give them some kind of excuse?

depends on the latest letter you received and you already told us porkies about it

whilst it may be on notepaper with the GLADRAGS header, it does not mean that GLADRAGS sent it (and it was definitely NOT sent out by Gladstone Brookes)

so check who sent it, and who it says to pay, its either GLADRAGS or DRPL

if its DRPL that sent it, then IGNORE it

if its gladrags who sent it, how many days did they give you to reply ? ( 30 ? or less ? )

if its 30 days , did they give you financial forms to fill in ? (or a link to forms ? )

How do YOU expect US to advise you when you dont tell us the true facts ?

You are never in the wrong with a private PCN so it's not about excuses, so get out of the mindset that you are at fault. Open your eyes to the scams of ex-clamper thug firms.

Sounds to me like you need to watch the videos of MPs in 2018 (February the in the Autumn) discussing the 'outrageous scam' of this industry. The problem has become so rampant that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers.

Watch the video of the Second Reading:

And the advice will be on other threads, which will save us repeating ourselves here:
Search the forum for Millennium claim or Millennium Gladstones.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • Sorry after reading the letter properly it is from Gladstone Solicitors.

They are giving me 30 days to reply to this letter and it gives me a number of options to pay:
    - Online
    - Over the phone
    - Via Cheque
    - Via bank Transfer
Just doing some more research on this so will get back with any questions however if you have any more advice then I would be very grateful.

    Cheers
