ORANGE charge for delivery reports

I just wanted to warn people that by having their delivery report setting on, on one of ORANGE's animal packages they charge 1p plus VAT per message.
Even though I have unlimited inclusive text messages and 2600 cross network minutes (which I never go over), my bills have been £10 per month over my tariff fee.
I made a random call to Orange today to find out what the extra charges were for and it was the first time i have heard about charges for delivery reports. They informed me that it was noted on my August bill, but i must have missed it. I'm going to double check the bill and will confirm details but i just wanted to show people how these tiny charges can rack up.

I've just noticed this to, to my cost, and came on here to see if others were aware of this when I noticed your thread.
I think it is appalling, I'm new to Orange and have never been charged for this with any other network I have been with.
Did you complain to Orange at all?0 -
I've known about this since my first contract with them 15 months ago. However, on a new contract a month ago we've been told they are free. As with all these things, different networks charge for different things on different tariffs. The rule is, ASK at the start and don't ASSUME! In addition, if people don't check their bills carefully and things slip through for months - more fool them I'm afraid. All networks have pluses and minuses, some of which aren't foreseen. Always check as soon as you take out a contract - the same applies to picutre messaging, internet access, home page access, voicemail and just about everything. As with cashback deals you MUST undertsand what you're getting and on what basis - otherwise you're a sucker for whatever may come. If on the FIRST bill things are not as were told, get a refund. If you don't do the check or the look at your bill whose fault is that?0

Haven't Orange been charging since April 2006??0

I thought part of the Bayeaux tapestry was dedicated to the introduction of Orange charging for Delivery Reports, or maybe that was the Magna Carta?0

Sorry to resurrevt an old thread; I guess I should've been monitoring every single post and googling everyday whilst I was out of the country. Get real, mobile junkie. I've just been stung on this one. I swapped with Orange from pay monthly contract, then to PAYG, now onto a SIM only deal. I DID ask whether there were any new terms and conditions to be aware of, as I always do, and the answer was no. Fact is that mobile phone terms & conditions change more than the weather and it's probably beyond most customer service advisors to keep up with everything too.
Now that I've checked my first bill (online, the day it was produced) and am aware of the charges, I shall certainly switch off delivery reports most of the time but I would like to challenge the first month's billing. Has anyone else managed to suceed in getting the charges waived?0 -
I tried to complain, Orange were very unhelpful and basically said tough.0

i know it is a different issue but as this thread relates to Orange charges I thought I would mention that if you go onto orange world to check your remaining minutes/texts you will get charged - its not much but again its another cost so best way is to phone and find out - maybe this was already known but I thought I would mention incase notKeep the Faith:cool:0

That was quick. Thank you. I'll wind my neck in. It so annoys me, but given the time and energy I know I'd end up spending being pushed from pillar to post, I guess that once again I'll just put up and shut up. For the sake of a pound it's just not worth it.

Hope I succeed in resurrecting my editing skills next time I post. Whoops
