unlock central mobile

Is this outfit a scam? Saw their ad on paypal website....we unlock your phone for £2.79.....did this, got "code" back along with some instructions ....lo and behold it didn't unlock the simlock. Emailed them back 3 times now....no reply. Any ideas on how to progress this 1? Not a lot of money, but it's the principle. Thanks in advance, Keith.

The problem with code locking is it can be sensitive

Try again etc but tbh for 2.79 your getting nowere, technically the service has been provided - i.e the unlock code and instructions

err...the code they have "sold" me doesn't work.....ergo the product hasn't met the standard required, .....no word of codes being "sensitive"...either the code sold unlocks my phone or it doesn't?? In any case thats 3 emails sent and no reply. Anyone know of a "body" that I can take this up with, as they clearly aren't interested.

The first two threads on THIS BOARD are all about free unlock codes for mobiles. Browntoa is an expert on unlocking, and has helped many many members unlock their phones for free.

This is very wrong. Many people have unlocked their phones using free unlock codes from information on the mobile phones board on this site. I've unlocked at least 20 friends phones for free using the tools/links provided on this site. In every case, the phone was unlocked using a code, and nobody paid a penny to anyone.

Actual no, that info isn't wrong. Motorola V3s require an unlock code supplied by motorola. Motorola charge for this service.

As for the initial post "we unlock your phone for £2.79", a lot of phones cannot be unlocked by code, but require, for example, test-points to be made on them. Charging £2.79 for a motorola code would also be financial suicide for a business, £6 is an ok price to pay.

if we knew what phone the OP was trying to unlock, that may help as well.

The impression I got from the post was that you can't get any unlock codes for this price. No model was quoted in the post (or by the OP of this thread).

Quote............no one can provide unlock code for 2.79 GBP

There are many models (not all though) that can be unlocked for free using a code. All the information regarding free unlock codes is available on the link to the board I posted.

  • Old Nokia phones ie DCT 4 can be unlocked for free by just entering the IMEI.
There are no Codes for BB5 that are available, except from the provider and this costs anywhere between 10-25 pounds depending on the network.
  • Be careful with these idiots.

They say they can unlock your phone and then take your money, the next day you receive a very polite email saying your phone is 'incompatible' ? Which means they dont know how to do it.:mad:
Strange that they dont prevent you from proceeding with an 'incompatible' phone before handing the cash over.
