Is a small indent on the over considered excessive to fair wear and tear?

Good grief, would anybody go looking in their oven for internal dents not listed on the inventory? Really?Make £2025 in 2025

I look in my oven every time i use it, you don't have to report inventory inconsistencies immediately, in my experience you have like 14 days depending on the agency.

I'm reading the same, but if I would never have thought to check for dents inside an oven on any place I rented back in the dim and distant.I'm reading the OP's posts as them being well aware of how and when it happened.
I have zero clue as to how, though...

We don't know how big this dent and chip are, or how clearly visible. Given that the agent is looking at whether the oven's been cleaned properly...I'm reading the same, but if I would never have thought to check for dents inside an oven on any place I rented back in the dim and distant.

I did not realise that my post was giving that impression. No, I was not aware of any dents till the checkout report came out. I obviously do not remember hitting the inside of my oven with something hard enough to make a dent in it. So my assumption is it was always there and so small that a regular use of the oven would not notice it.
And my question, based on the above is, if the dent is that small, can it be considered a fair wear and tear?0 -
No, they don't have pictures from the check-in report. Just a statement saying the oven was in good condition.
I believe that if there was pre-existing damage then the onus is on you to report it.
The onus is not for the landlord to prove it wasn't there in the first place.
That's not a moral comment or opinion, that's my understanding of the rules.0 -
Hi OP,
I would dispute it with the deposit scheme telling them as you had never noticed it you assume it is not significant and falls under normal wear and tear / may have been there when you moved in.
Ask the landlord for a copy of the photo so you know what you are dealing with. If the landlord won't share the image then report that fact to the scheme - suggesting if the images show clear negligent damage that they should be happy to share the image.
If you do have to pay (under the scheme) it would probably be a portion of the oven price and not the whole price - to reflect the age of the oven.

if you park in a car park and come back to find the person next to you has opened their door and left a dent in your car would you say that was damage or "fair" wear and tear because that is what people do when in car parks - they damage other people's property without repercussion?0
