We slept well last night as well, makes a big difference doesn't it.hopefully the bee population keeps healthy.
Its strange, about 15 minutes ago I thought "shall I start putting the onions in" decided its still a bit early, even though we're in the mild southwest, then came on here and found like minds (its difficult being patient sometimes isnt it) its a year since the beast from the east froze us all , so i will wait for a bit.

However, got my seed potatoes from Kings today. 3 varieties. Casablanca Charlotte and Cara.
All chitting now, and I must say, they seem lovely sets.

That's all for now, the crickets getting exciting

Morning all. Am hoping to get out in the garden today. Front still looks lovely, although the grass now needs cutting. Broad beans are beginning to germinate now, although I'm going to plant in September this year like I did last time. Lettuces still growing ok. And of course, chard is all year round!

Other seeds can probably wait a little while yet.

I must confess SuffolkLass not much went into my decision making other than seeing a brand new in box 5mx2m foxhunter polytunnel for £40 and it was delivered to my door via FB Marketplace.

Figured I'd try it out and see how it got on LOL

On the weather, our allotment site rep did some research up till May? apparently and he said some dips and rain but on the whole moving in the right direction.... No impending beasties from any direction....
I'm South East though so we're usually milder than everywhere else anyway.

No plot for me this weekend so I'm house and garden orientated till Monday when I'll be back up the plot.
Seedlings are showing indoors, tomatoes and marigolds up. Nothing on the chillies yet so I may move them to warmer clims and see if that spurs them on

Glad to hear others are planting their onions too. :)

My pea seedlings are looking extremely healthy and the toms and leeks are looking better everyday. Very exciting.

Thanks for the info on the straw bales bertiewhite. It's a really interesting idea I think. Not sure where to get myself a straw bale though. Any ideas?

I had a physio appointment where I was told to stop the heavy digging until my shoulder regains some of its strength. I couldn't have dug today or yesterday after the mauling my shoulder got from the physio. She warned me it would be painful but heck it was excruciating! It feels a bit more mobile today. What a good job I'd done the heavy digging before I saw her!

    Happy growing everyone:)

Sounds good to me! and a brilliant price. There are two greenhouses just up the road from us on FB Marketplace but it is a self-service disassembly and removal and no effort has been made to clear them out or remove the bindweed. It really isn't selling them!

  • Has anyone made a light box for starting off seedlings please? I have found a couple of videos on Youtube but they are American and I am not sure how easy it would be to get some of the equipment needed in the UK. They use a large plastic storage box and a clamp light like used with reptiles and fluorescent bulbs which I haven't seen here.

  • More pottering today but still physically knackered. Repotted the last three Chinese Mahogany seedlings, cleared out the last of the carrots and prepped a propagator for sowing Padron Peppers (hopefully tomorrow). Also made a start emptying last years tomato growbags and distributing the compost Great Escape style around the garden (using a bucket rather than pouring it down my trouser legs obviously). Also collected up all the bits of seaside windmill I could find, to see how many I can salvage. Tomorrow, maybe repot the tomato seedlings which are very very leggy, but the stems are thickening so I'm less tempted to re-sow

Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?
