Beanie, although you only have a Sainsbo in your town, you might well get deliveries from elsewhere - I get Asda, even though its 15 minutes away on the train.

Yes, I can get deliveries from Asda. Sadly I dont rate them much on that front.

I don't know much about Morrison's prices, but Aldi is definitely cheaper than Asda, quite a bit cheaper than Sainsburys, and lots cheaper than Waitrose ! Especially with Easter coming, all the chocolate goodies are proper nice German chocolate and cheap to boot. I would still shop there if they delivered.

They also do this gorgeous frozen salmon Wellington !!

    Thanks:T

I'm not bothered about buying any chocolate but the salmon Wellington sounds wonderful. We love salmon:j, I'll definitely give Aldi a try at the weekend.

In a recent survey, I think by Which, Morrisons came out cheapest of the big 4 online supermarkets. Asda always used to come out best for price on other comparisons of the big 4 but I think Morrisons pipped them to top spot this time. I love Morrisons in general especially their own brand range. I like that they sell cheap 'wonky' veg too although, growing most of our own, I don't need to buy much. I did buy a pack of wonky red peppers recently and apart from them being a bit oddly shaped and absolutely huge the quality was excellent. Their Best range is really nice too.

Yes, also so wish Aldi delivered.
Where I live we only have a Sainsbugs & it is so expensive

Check the different supermarkets' websites, beanie. When you input your postcode it will tell you if they deliver to your location.

We have a Morrisons in our nearest town but the Morrisons deliveries come from the much bigger store about 18 miles away and not the smaller nearer one. We can also get Asda, Tesco and Sainsbury deliveries from the same distance. The only one we can't get round here is Waitrose but I can't afford them anyway:o.

EDIT: Just seen that you can also get Asda deliveries:doh:.
  • I hope everyone is having a nice day so far:). After a very sharp frost last night the sun is trying its best to come out now and there's even a bluish tinge to the sky. It's a pity I couldn't go with OH this morning to the town where he was born and lived for the first 18 years of his life. He's gone to watch some demolition work (why are men fascinated by that sort of thing?:rotfl:) on some of his childhood haunts. We usually enjoy a nice walk too whenever we go there and I expect I might have found something interested to do and see whilst he was watching the dust and rubble. He usually gets all maudlin after watching his past disappear though so maybe I'm best keeping my distance. I have to stay in today for a parcel delivery and a couple of important phone calls. That's my excuse anyway;)

I've been more lucky so far this year with a flurry of Prolific surveys and redeemed £24.18 (some of which was 'earned' pre-Christmas though) which is now in my 'treats' account. I have a running total on my signature of everything I make this year as part of the Make £2019 in 2019 challenge. I need to update that balance as I go for ages with nothing to report and get out of the habit of doing it:o. That challenge isn't just my 'treats' fund. As far as that challenge goes I'm including everything extra I make including money-off coupons and so on. The 'treats' pot just includes money made from selling things, surveys, cashback and so on. I'll include vouchers for such as Amazon that I receive from surveys as part of the 'treats' fund but not supermarket vouchers that I spend on groceries. Sounds a bit confusing, I often confuse myself:rotfl:. but it sort of makes sense to me to do it this way. I think!. Also, the total in the Make £2019 in 2019 challenge will, hopefully, keep going up throughout the year whereas the 'treats' balance will vary depending on if I can bring myself to spend anything on myself after so long not being able to. I can already sense a few temptations on the horizon so I'd better watch my step:eek:

I've also just received £9.74 today from Quidco for purchases made about 6 months ago which I'd almost forgotten about. Some retailers take forever to pay:(. In my bad old debt-ridden days I'd have been anxiously checking my Quidco account daily for even the smallest of payment (and it was small in those days because I couldn't afford to buy much that generated any cashback:o).

I'm still waiting for the official letter from Robinson Way confirming that they won't chase the outstanding balance on my account after the F&F is paid. It was only last Thursday when he said he'd arrange for the letter to be sent so I'm being impatient too soon. As soon as it arrives I plan to phone them and clear the debt by debit card over the phone. Just having one debt left after that will be a major boost to me:j

I confess, I'd go and see big demolition work :D if it was reasonably near me, now I've retired :D but yes, I could do without the maudlin :)

Enjoy your day, CBC, it sounds like you've got some real positives happening today :j

I shop at Morries as my regular store and popped into a local Aldi's about mid January. It was more expensive that Morries for lots of things. Also, unlike our local Morries and Lidl, the bread in Aldi's was not finished on the premises. I came away rather disappointed (except for the aisle of temptation). Even in the temptation aisle, I bought only an A5 ring bound book and a roll of duct tape (I know how to treat myself!)
    Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far
I also Reverse Meal Plan on that thread and grow much of our own premium price fruit and veg, joining in on the Grow your own thread

    Thank you:)

I like to watch demolition of big structures but I think the buildings coming down today are just houses and a small single-storey library where OH used to go with his Granny to choose books when he was really young. He was a very keen reader in those days but, unlike me who rarely has my nose out of a book in the evening, he hardly ever picks up a book at all nowadays.

Thank you, that's useful information about Aldi:T

I once bought my best ever pair of boots in the temptation aisle at Lidl:j. I've 'funny' feet so finding a good fit is always a tedious job and trying these ones on standing up with people pushing trolleys past me was interesting to say the least:rotfl:. Great quality boots at an unbelievable price though and what's more they fit me a lot better than most others I've bought and had to 'break in' over the years.

Our postman was early today without bringing the hoped-for letter from my creditor who I'm itching to pay off as soon as it comes. I never thought I'd be so eager to pay a creditor:rotfl:

I've started a line in my signature specifically for my Treats Fund although I haven't totted up the amount in it yet. Having it there for all to see will help keep me accountable to myself more than anyone else. If anyone notices the total rapidly decreasing please tell me to stop spending:naughty:. I'm still getting used to having a bit of surplus money again ;).

Something strange just happened on Prolific. Maybe not really strange but it's something that never happened to me before:eek:

I logged in and saw there was an available study so I clicked to do it and received a pop up message that I was ineligible because my account is under review:mad:. Any idea what that means please? I redeemed my available cash this morning and it all went through quickly and without a hitch. I hope they don't bar me for any reason as I certainly haven't infringed their rules and regs..

I love the Prolific studies and it's certainly my most reliable earner as far as surveys go. I'd hate to lose it:(

EDIT: Panic over, I hope. Just been on the Prolific site again and a new Ts & Cs box appeared. Definitely wasn't there last time I looked. I ticked the necessary acceptance boxes so I hope the reason my account was 'under review' before was because I hadn't done so. No available study for me this time so I won't know if that's all it was.
