Merry Crimble.
Well, the sales got me! I have bought socks - 3 long pairs and 4 short, which I make another 10 coupons gone (the long ones are properly long, so will have to be counted as stockings).
And then two bras and one pair of knickers, to a total of 8 coupons (I think we said modern knickers were 2?)
Which leaves me 25 - 18 = 7 coupons to see the year out.
Really looking forward to next year's challenge - I think it will be harder though, things are showing signs of wear and two tops have had to be let go, partly because the quality of one was quite low to start with (I am learning!).
Have a great New Year everyone, and much thanks to PipneyJane for running the thread.

I think this is the biggest thing I've learnt this year: that buying shoddy stuff is a total waste, waste of money because you have to buy them again a short time later, waste of resources as they are too rubbishy to be cut up and made into anything (not even cleaning cloths!), just a waste all round - and a waste of my precious coupons!!!
I have 8.5 coupons left - do they all expire on 31st? If so, I had better get eBay-shopping for the lining for my grey wool suit if I can find anything suit-able (hee hee)...
I have a feeling the wartime ones expired at the date, full stop and no special arrangements! But then I suppose we don't *need* to spend all of them... Maybe in wartime, I'd have given my 8.5 to someone as a Christmas present?2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

I totally agree. Quality wins out.I have 8.5 coupons left - do they all expire on 31st? If so, I had better get eBay-shopping for the lining for my grey wool suit if I can find anything suit-able (hee hee)...

While it is probable coupons did expire eventually, I don’t think it was immediately upon the issue of new ones. There are too many reports about people saving up their coupons for weddings, etc.
As far as I’m concerned, unused coupons can roll forward to next year.

20 coupons for next year and more yarn for me!
TBH its the yarn that ate up my coupons this year as I did pretty well with charity shop and ebay purchases, and was gifted some other stuff.
Maybe I should make a concise effort to use up the yarn I have, although my stash isn't crazy levels just yet and I do have some projects in mind at least :rotfl:Wealth is not measured by currency0 -
I'm working very hard on using up what I have - one plan I have in the next few weeks is to get everything out of the yarn cupboard and re-weigh it and update my Rav stash-catalogue.... BUT I shall add up the weights, so I get a total weight of yarn (so long as it weighs less than I do, it won't be too bad...)
then I'm putting the yarn cupboard on a diet... I can still buy yarn if it's a good idea to buy that yarn at that time - but more out than in over the year and see how much lighter my yarn cupboard is by next December!2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

A happy Hogmanay to everyone in this thread, posters and lurkers alike, and here's to a new thread for 2020, and may we all have a wonderful year ahead, filled with finding clever ways to decrease our clutter and shoddy clothing, and instead end the year with fewer clothes, which are better quality, look better, feel better and last better!2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

Happy New Year to you and everyone, too, Laura.
New bras (yes, way different size, assisted by a lovely member of staff in JL) and with the leftover money Couture Sewing Techniques by Claire B Schaeffer. I've done some of these at a Course last year - but its lovely to have the book to refer to. Even more lovely that none of this came out of my pocket!0 -
Happy New Year, all! May your year be full of joy and blessings and may your dreams come true in 2020.
The 2020 thread is now live. Will you be joining me?
Greetings from a very cold, foggy Normandy.

Best of luck, Laura. What is the total?
