My mother (born in 1916) had a knitted swimsuit. She said that once it got wet, it stretched ... not a very flattering result, and I should think it made swimming pretty difficult!Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0

We look forward to having you - but don't feel you have to go away until Jan. 1st!
If you can knit and have time on your hands (what with everyone having lots of free time just before Christmas...) you could always knit yourself a 1930s swimsuit (most wartime patterns would be pre-war).

Stay and play, please! We won’t hold it against you if you don’t count coupons for 2019.
Just a heads up to everyone who is coupon counting: we’ll do a final tally up on New Year’s Eve and I’ll put an honour board on the 2020 thread.
Beautiful pattern, Laura.

Hello All!
2 new (to me) jumpers purchased - and just in time for some blustery days too. Secondhand so coupon free. I am in need of some slippers and fluffy socks but they're on my Xmas list so I only have to hold out a little b it longer LOLWealth is not measured by currency0 -
Woohoo! Some "new" clothes added to the household without a single coupon going west! I've just proudly presented OH with a pair of pyjama bottoms cut from a 1970s psychedelic flannelette sheet (I'll get another pair out of that yet - it's blissfully soft & warm) and DD2's working on a fabulous 1920s number from fabric that's been hanging around in her stash for several years. (We're doing a murder mystery party for New Year's Eve, set in a posh 20s dinner party.)
OH's pyjama top will be made from contrasting brushed cotton fabric I already have. I should be able to wring a third pair of bottoms out of the leftovers, too. Any further complaints that our 1901 bedroom's "cold" - we have two duvets; "his" is a 15 tog pure wool one, mine's a 7.5 tog & I swelter under that - will be studiously ignored!Angie - GC Aug25: £106.61/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0 -
Thriftwizard by name and thriftwizard by nature! That's impressive
I'm doing a bit of Make Do & Mend today too - my parents asked me to find enough still-sound bits of their very very very much loved but derelict old bedspread to make cushion covers for the hard bentwood chairs for their dining table, so I've got an elderly 1970s 'Cravendale' bedspread with a gorgeous William Morris print, and am trying to see if I can find four 16" squares that look decent and have the pattern well-placed...!2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

I've got 11.5 coupons left and tomorrow I've got a morning killing time between the Post Office first thing and meeting a friend for lunch, so I'll be wandering round the big shopping centre.... and next Monday I'm spending the day in Shrewsbury with a friend...
Will the coupons reach New Year?!2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:
