It sounds like you all had a nice Christmas.:A
Mine didn't exactly go to plan. Our washing machine and TV both broke between Christmas Eve and Boxing Day!
We had to cancel leaving our dogs at the vet and going out to the restaurant as we were already spending so much money to replace them both! At least we are in the position to have savings put aside for situations like that.
On the bright side we have a lovely new 50 inch screen TV that my husband chose.:D
He bought me a bag of Lush bath bombs as well so I am enjoying using them.:) I had a bath today with one and then used body butter afterwards.
I am doing three loads of washing today to catch up with the laundry. It's a lot quieter than the old machine which is good.
I am going to carry on watching Buffy today as I finished watching all of Friends.
I think I need to review my saving plans for 2020.:rotfl:0 -
I hope you all had a nice Xmas. I have been keeping up with the thread, but have been quite busy, so I haven’t had time to post. I prep for Christmas throughout the year, so it meant we had a nice relaxed December. Plus I can spread the cost.
I haven’t gone sale shopping. There isn’t anything I need or want. Most shops have sales throughout the year, so I don’t need to wait for December. I did buy a dress and some boots from eBay, saving £120 on the rrp.
OH bought me a spa treatment voucher, so I’m looking forward to using that soon. I definitely want to have more treatments in the future.0 -
I have been reading along and enjoying hearing about your Christmases and plans, hopes and dreams for the future.
Trying hard to keep up with the fabbing, but finding it hard going at times, my DM has had a series of smallish strokes and the stress levels of myself and my dear siblings has been through the roof. Things seem to be settling a little and we wait to see what improvement if any is forthcoming, but there are physical and mental changes which we are finding hard ATM.
No sales shopping, little that I need, although DOH has offered to pay for a new pair of T*mberland walking boots if I can find some, in readiness for our planned holiday in Northumberland and Scottish Borders for April and May.
Today should be a coffee with friends, I have not been able to attend for weeks because of a miserable virus and the life stuff, it is at a small garden centre which has had a revamp under new management, I am really looking forward to it. x
P.S. Thank you for this safe place in which to have a little whinge, good to let things out occasionally. Take care all.The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
Good morning lovely ladies
Maddie......you're not whinging at all. I'm so sorry to hear about your mum. Strokes are so cruel. With each one we lose just a little bit more of the person we love and I agree it's the mental and emotional changes that are the hardest. Hope you manage to meet your friends for coffee, a little break will do you good. Take care, and try to fab as best you can. Even if it's just a spray of perfume and a bit of lippy.
Well two things today.
Had to cancel a planned outing yesterday, my tummy just wasn't up to it. So spent a sofa day, watching tv and dozing. Then last night slept for 9 hrs!!! :rotfl: I cant remember the last time I did that.
Anyway touch wood, so far my tummy feels a bit better this morning so hopefully the sleep fairy has worked her magic. Hopefully I will be well enough to go out tomorrow.
Secondly, I put myself on the scales and I'm afraid I have regained 6lbs of my original weight loss. So......it's back on the WW today. I will go shopping later and stock up on tummy friendly foods and lots of fruit and veg.
It just goes to show just how I really do need to take care with what I eat, both from a weight point of view and keeping my digestive system happy.
So it's back to pure paleo, no nightshades and only the tiniest bit of dairy and then only lacto free. My goal is heal my tummy again and to lose that 6lb gain and then a further 7lb by Easter. So 13lbs in around 3 and half months. Should be doable.
Chanie.....your spa voucher sounds great. Enjoy. I bought both girls one for Christmas and they were chuffed to bits.
I gave myself a mini spa treatment yesterday. Did a facial peel, pedicure and lots of slathering.
One of the compliments I received over Christmas was someone said how nice my skin looked (without face make up too:D, I was only wearing eye make up and lippy). So I must be doing something right. I have been making a conscious effort to drink more water and use extra moisturiser recently to combat the drying effects of cold winds and central heating.
Anyway ladies......are we ready to start thinking about next years goals........
Time to choose your word or phrase.
Next year mine will be "Extraordinary".
This year "Panache" was all about trying to live with style, laying the foundations for a more glamourous life, revamping my home and myself. Losing weight, dressing with care, showing up each day with intent, style and flair, reconnecting with the me I used to be before widowhood took away my joy, getting out and about, reconnecting with old friends and making new ones, seeking out fun and pleasure.
So far so good, but now I want to take it up a notch. I want next year to be even better. Next year I want to "Live out Loud". So, time to up the ante and crank up the joy factor. Time to make my life extraordinary. Time for MORE.
More fun, more adventure, more everything!!!!!
But not more material possessions, I will continue my mission to declutter, and aim for a more minimalist way of living. It works so well for me.
I love my streamlined home now. It feels very calm and zen like. A safe haven and a perfect jumping off point for a life more extraordinary.0 -
Hello Ladies,
Yesterday morning I was overjoyed when my older son and his two daughters came to visit me for a few hours. My 2 granddaughters baked cookies for me and their aunt and uncle, which they iced with Christmas themed items like a Santa hat. They also bought me a bunch of lilies. :j:D
My younger adult daughter is feeling very, very unwell. She has been vomiting a lot, so I suspect she may have norovirus.:( She is even finding it hard to stay hydrated because she can not even keep water down. She has had to take 2 days off work so far, but she will just have to take each day as it comes until she is back to her normal health.
Luckily neither my younger son or I seem to be affected.
I have gained almost a stone of the weight I lost earlier in the year, but I am not too bothered. In 2020, I am going to spend the whole year concentrating on changing what I eat, mostly to lower my blood pressure to a normal level and to lose the weight I have gained and continue to lose more weight.
I am going to make sure that I exercise in some way every day to complement my healthy eating.
I am not going to renew my Odeon Limitless card. I have really enjoyed going to see so many films this year, but even though it did my soul a lot of good, it did not help my Arthritis. I was getting really stiff and sometimes my joints were locking from all of the sitting in cinema seats, so I think it is best for me to leave cinema going to the occasional treat in 2020.
I want to try some new adventures in 2020 and I would prefer activities that are going to give me new experiences that take me away from home.
I am going to spend as much time as I can spare reading books that I already own in2020 and throughout 2020 I will not be buying any new books.I do not have space for any more books, so I do not want to accumulate any more.
I am loving having a Lidl store in Camberwell Green, as I am already making a lot of savings on items I used to buy from Tesco or Poundland. :T:D
In 2020 I am going to continue to spend my money with caution while living a life of joy.
I am also going to be having a birthday party on the Saturday 18th April 2020 for my 58th birthday. So please save the date ladies, I would love any of you that can make it to London or live in or near London to be there looking fabulous, so that we can meet each other in person at last.

Sorry ive been in and out of this for awhile , but ive kept up with the fabbing , Just family things got in the way a lot this year ,
My word is going to be "Achieve" as i mean to achieve EVERYTHING i plan to do . Fabbing, De- Cluttering . especially my clothes , i have stuff im never going to wear, going to pass it on to the CS and make room for the nice stuff, re new what i need too , but only what i need as im going to keep a check on the money this year, Spent A LOT in 2019 , i dont regret any of it , some was to help DD and partner with a deposit on a nice house , and some to re vamp the bathroom , which is the best room in the house now , love it , especially the mirror as it has colour changing lights on it , and gives the room a nice relaxing ambience whichever colour you choose, the pale green , and the blues are my favourite, So the bank balance needs to be boosted back up a bit in 2020 ready for any unexpected bills. Weight loss is my biggest goal , like everyone else ive gained over the holiday period , so its time to rein in and get back on the slimming world waggon , i like the SW food , and can easily prepare lots of meals for the freezer to go to , so ive no excuse, preparation is the key , My downfall is chocolate..( So much around this time of year ) ..but ive got to reduce it or go cold turkey and have none at all .....I plan to swim at least once a week weather permitting too , ( Already made a start on that and been doing it 5 weeks........so im on it )
Im still having electrolosis on my face ( Chin area) every 2 weeks so thats nice and de fuzzed now ( £9 for 10 minutes) and its plenty , dont need more than that , so divided by the 2 weeks its not breaking the bank , got to get my hair sorted soon too
Sugarbaby . that would be good if you could meet up with a few from here for your birthday
Hope your DD is feeling better
Maddie im so sorry to hear about your Mum , Ive been in the same situation in the past , so know how stressfull it can be , I hope she can feel a little better..............you will feel better then too . Sending a big hug
LL , Thankyou for always writing such wonderful posts and keeping us so motivated and positive You truly are an inspiration to us with all the goals you have xxxxx0 -
Wednesday, rotten luck regarding the home appliances, but great that you are enjoying your new TV. Having seen your post on another thread I would like to say that I an glad you are still around (hugs).
LL - as usual you give me much to think about when considering the new year and new decade and continue to inspire me and so many others.
Sugarbaby- you fit so much into your life and you have raised some wonderful sounding children. So sorry that your daughter is feeling so ill, I and many others drink lemonade or tonic water that has been left to go flat when I cannot keep water down, small sips often usually work for me.
chanie - enjoy your spa treatments, a lovely gift from your OH, like sugarbaby you are an expert at getting the best deals on items you want to buy.
maman - fab deal on your Benefit items, the younger me used to love their eye make up, not so suitable for my 70 year old eyelids sadly:(
moll - you sound well ahead of the game in respect of diet and exercise, tough about the chocolate, I am lucky, don't have a sweet tooth, 100g of Milky Bar has 2 squares left after being open for 3 weeks LOL, I have a square of chocolate or a toffee after taking one of my meds as they are so horridly bitter:eek:The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. Oh, I would be interested in meeting you. My brother still lives in south London. I won't say definitely as something usually pops up at the last minute (usually involving one of my pets being ill!) but I have marked the date on the calendar.:)and some to re vamp the bathroom , which is the best room in the house now , love it , especially the mirror as it has colour changing lights on it , and gives the room a nice relaxing ambience whichever colour you choose, the pale green , and the blues are my favourite,
My new TV has those colour changing lights, it's pretty cool.lessonlearned wrote: »Well........What a gorgeous sunny day, tomorrow looks pretty good too.
