I was thinking about blazers yesterday and thinking why I have so much trouble getting them to fit my body type. I got my hair cut yesterday and I was looking at my hairdresser and what she was wearing. She had on dark wash skinny jeans, a white v neck top and a blazer. I was wondering how she finds blazers to fit her as she has a bigger frame than me and she is taller than me and realised she was wearing a cardigan that looked like a blazer. I will have to look for something similar.:)0

I have huge norks so I struggle getting blazers to fit properly. I have a jersey blazer, which is a nice fit and its really comfortable.0 -

:rotfl: never heard them called norks before. :rotfl:
I have the same problem so Its very rare that I can actually fasten jackets. If I buy a size larger then they swamp my shoulders. I think I have extra small skinny shoulders because I often have problems with getting things to fit nicely so usually have to lift the shoulder seam iyswim.
Wednesday I had forgotten about sudocrem. It's good stuff. Thanks for the reminder, great for what I call "pre-excema". That horrid dry itchy skin you get before it turns into full blown Excema. I think that's what I have so maybe cortisone cream is a bit overkill. I'll give sudocrem a try.
Need to work on my hands too, they are like sandpaper. I have already dug out the gloves. If I'm not careful the cold makes my cuticles split.....surprisingly painful..
Well I've done two hours painting. I know it doesn't sound much but it's enough.
Window man just been to do a final measure, hopefully we can get them done in about 2 weeks before it turns Arctic. :rotfl:
Going to take it easy now, read a book, watch a film, do some hand sewing.0 -
Hi Ladies
I hope you dont mind me popping on here and apologies for barging in on your posts, im a bit of a lurker and dont really participate but you seems such a knowledgable bunch!
Does anyone have any advice for how to get out of the black clothing rut when you're overweight? Im frightened to wear colouring case it makes me look even bigger (plus everyone is so used to me wearing black I think they'd faint if they saw me in colour) but no mater how many clothes I buy I always seem to look the same as I go for styles that cover up and are long with black trousers.
Im desperate to get out of the frump look and im hoping if I am proud of my appearance it will encourage me to lose weight.
Thank you0 -

I know exactly where you're coming from time to change . I did just the same before I started posting, black from head to toe! I made a plan to lose weight and while I did so I bought stuff from charity shops to experiment with colour. You could start with simple things like a coloured scarf, shoes or bag.
Longer term, do you plan to lose weight?0 -
Hi Time to Change......welcome.
I agree with Maman if you are not ready to abandon black yet, then a good way to gradually increase colour is to add accessories as she suggests. Also jewellery. A statement necklace perhaps.
Then when you are ready to take the next step, you could perhaps try some of the dark rich jewel colours such as aubergines/burgundies, forest greens, deep blues/navy. How about patterned tops, keeping to a black background but with some colour in the pattern.
You are quite correct in your idea that if you start to take pride in your appearance it might help you lose weight. It really can work that way.
I was watching a film with Melissa McCarthy the other day. She has lost a lot of weight but even when she was at her biggest she could still glam up. Same with Dawn French, even when she was larger she still dressed well and looked good.
It all starts with grooming and good self care. Dressing up and showing up and being the best you can be, whatever your size. Ok we may not have their budgets but that's where charity shops come in handy.
Please join us, take it slowly and have fun along the way.
I'm going to have a day off today......I think I've earned it. :rotfl:0 -
I'm taking it easy today as well LL.
I'm feeling under the weather still. I have taken my cough medicine and had a hot bath. My skin is looking red and blotchy as wellso I did an Aztec clay face mask and then rubbed in sweet almond oil. I'm leaving off any makeup today.
I'm not very fab today as I'm wearing my long black maxi dress and a Slipknot t-shirt, lol. I'm not going anywhere.
I ordered a v-neck denim jacket that I may keep that way or I may dye it black as I have another sachet of black dye in the cupboard.
I have another night out next week to see my friend. I haven't seen him in 6 years. I'm thinking of wearing my long dark grey maxi dress, tights, boots and a black v-neck jumper and my new jacket if it is cold enough. Rose gold necklace and my rose gold watch.lessonlearned wrote: »

My friend who is a nurse swears by that stuff as it is very healing for the skin.Time_to_Change wrote: »Hi Ladies

I looked on Kettlewell Colours as they have a quiz to see if you are a Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter. I got Winter and I now wear black, navy and true red the most.:)
I do like black though as I used to be goth.:rotfl:2025 GOALS

I was never a goth but I do like black and wear it often. Today (one mile clothes) I'm wearing black from head to toe . When I went out yesterday I just put a hooded red cardigan under my black jacket so that there was a hint of colour against all the black. Later in the year/month I'll wear a coloured scarf.
Yesterday when I'd finished all the shopping and other chores I put my feet up and watched a great programme on iplayer which I think many of you would enjoy. It's in the BBC4 Archives series, made in 1985 and it follows the route of a London bus from Camden to World's End in Chelsea. The programme features all the different communities the bus passes through on the route. It's fascinating both as a snapshot of the 80s but also the insight into people's lives at the time.

Another having an easy day today. The weather is grey and grim so no wish to go out. I've got some reading I need to do for a meeting on Monday but other than that I shan't feel guilty if I do very little as I've got a busy week coming up.0 -
I don't usually post on here, but I gave myself a shock today!
I accepted grey hair two years ago, as it's brighter than the faded colour. I was wearing tight black jeans, a grey cotton sweater embroidered with little purple birds and I was cold, so I fished out a cardigan to add to this.
I caught sight of myself in my long mirror! Yea gods! Fading away, grey lady.
Quite change to a bright blue cardigan and some make up.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.
(Pity they are mangled by this autocorrect!)0
