  • My husband's clothes came out brilliantly. He looks like he has four brand new pairs of black combat trousers/jeans!:T

I'm going to do a face mask, shave my legs and put on body lotion after my bath tonight.

I watched the YouTube video of Madame Chic today as she has uploaded her (Fall) Autumn capsule wardrobe. She has a lot of new pieces this time. I really liked some of the dresses she modelled, especially the blue shift dress she said was made by Reese Witherspoon.

Yes, it really has, along with the excellent and helpful tips on here!

I am going to make sure I keep up with the exercise and especially make sure I walk outside everyday to get vitamin D now it's Autumn.

  • Hello lovely ladies

I shall be sleeping in my bed tonight.Wahoo. :rotfl:

My DS2 pulled out all the stops today to get it finished for me, wardrobes set up etc. It looks fab even if I do say so myself. Lots of lovely storage space now.

Too tired to reorganise everything tonight and anyway I think it will take several days but I am looking forward to rolling my sleeves up and having a declutter and sort out.

Still need to sort curtains, artwork etc but there's no hurry. The rug is perfect, thick and cosy. Finally a nice bedroom. Lol.

    Lessons enjoy your new boudoir.

We have some home fabbing tomorrow - an impromptu kitchen painting session as both me and OH are at home tomorrow. We didn’t like the colour we painted it a few years ago and as we have some leftover white paint we thought we could just repaint it. Because of the kitchen units, it’s not a large surface area, so hopefully shouldn’t take too long.

    Good morning lovely ladies.....

Chanie.......not quite a boudoir yet, but hopefully it will be. At least it was nice to sleep in my bed again. Enjoy your painting today. It is amazing what a coat of paint will do.

The big clean up starts today although I have granny duty this afternoon so won't be able to really get the reorganisation under way until tomorrow. Just a few easy wins today. I also want to have a big reorganisation in my kitchen whilst I'm at it.

I have put 2 lbs on, hardly surprising because I haven't really been eating properly. In fact my tummy isn't happy (paint and carbs don't suit me) so I need to get back on track once my tummy has settled again.

Fabbing has slipped a bit too, so need to get back on it. I also need to schedule in a hair cut, a massage, the chiropodist and an eye test so I have decided to have a complete break from decorating for a couple of weeks and just concentrate on me and on getting straight.

Oh and some gardening. Need to do an autumn tidy up and some planting.

Phew.....I'm going to be busy. :rotfl:

    Have a great day.....

Hope the painting's going well chanie. Fresh paint is great for giving a room a quick make over.:)

Great to be back in your own bed LL. Nothing like a decent night's sleep to set you up for the day. :) It's no bad thing to take your time getting organised. I know from our recent building work that it feels good to give places a proper clean when they're 'empty' and then think carefully how much of the 'stuff' that you took out needs to go back. Great opportunity to have another sort out and you find out exactly what you do have. I'm determined not to buy more stuff to fill up my bathroom cupboards without using up what I already have.

Is the MIL gone back yet LL? I just wondered with you doing 2 days of granny duty?

That being said, I did make a purchase yesterday. :o I went into the city to get my eyebrows waxed and tinted. I'm gradually going a few shades darker with my eyebrows and the definition is excellent. Christmas had arrived in John Lewis! There were trees and decorations everywhere.:( On the plus side, the Benefit counter had their Christmas gift packs in. The one with my moisturiser in it was only £2 more than the moisturiser costs on its own. So I get a small eye cream, eyebrow primer (like hair gel for eyebrows) and a small make up primer (great for evening out the tone of my skin before foundation) for £2. I didn't need it exactly but I know I'll use the moisturiser so the rest were just nice gifts to have. :)

We've been out for lunch today and I got compliments from my friend that I looked good. I wore my midi wrap dress from Nobody's Child with a fine, black, long sleeved top and black leggings underneath. It's reasonably warm here (19 degrees) so I just wore black suede ballet pumps with the outfit, no need for boots yet.:)

As we've eaten a huge meal (very generous portions in restaurant) then I won't need to cook tonight so I can put my feet up and relax. Actually the fridge is looking really empty so I think I'll wash it out before I fill it up again tomorrow.:D

Good morning everyone, dry here ATM so fingers crossed I can do my market shop and CS drop before it rains.

OH and I spent almost 2 weeks in South Wales, first few days re-visiting The Gower Peninsula and then a week in beautiful Pemrokeshire, this was before the weather deteriorated and we had a wonderful time sightseeing and enjoying seeing the glorious beaches and coastine, no Wifi, but mostly caught up with all your fabbing now:)

I came across a blog called "A tray of bliss" and this page really resonated with me and I feel that it is so in line with what you encourage us to do LL that I thought you might like to see it.

A happy and fab Friday all.

  • Good morning lovely ladies.

Thanks Maddie for that link. Looks like a great blog, and that article was spot on wasn't it. Being prepared....love it!!! I too have a feeling that something "big" is about to happen in my life. Or at least something good. I do feel the universe shifting - definitely something In the air......

Without wishing to dwell on past sadness I do feel that that stage of my life is firmly behind me now, that life is back on an even keel. Life is changing, I'm changing and it's all to the good. The future is looking bright.

Had a lovely afternoon with my grandson, he's almost 15 months now. And whilst I like babies well enough I have to say I prefer them once they start becoming little people. We are already starting to get little temper tantrums - he definitely has a mind of his own.

He seems to be settling in well at nursery school and next week sees him going more often......so my services will only be needed once a week through October and then after that it will be just occasional/emergencies and if they want to go out of an evening now and again.

And of course, when he's older sleepovers at grannies. :rotfl: that will be fun. MIL goes back at the end of October via Madrid where she has a sister so she will spend a few days there.

Weather definitely turning cooler here and intermittent rain for the next few days. Perfect time for the big reorganisation and clean up - made a start yesterday, going to really crack on the next couple of days.

So....a nice weekend of house and personal fabbing, maybe have a browse round d the shops either tomorrow or Sunday. See how It goes.

Have a lovely weekend - keeeep fabbing.

I'm glad you had a good time in Wales Maddie. I was born in the area and used to work on the Gower coast. It was brilliant driving past the sea every day. I noticed that the gatehouse where my grandmother's family lived has now been turned into luxury holiday lets.

Interesting article in the paper today about the government/lottery funding being released to restore town centres with historic buildings. They used your city as an example of what can be done LL. Are you impressed? I'm really pleased to see old buildings being valued and some individuality and character being brought back to shop fronts. It's such a shame that so many councils have given planning permission for shop fronts to be given the neon light treatment so that they all look the same. :(

I've put some of the John Frieda lightening spray on my hair today. It'll help to prolong the highlights and with my cut and blow dry tomorrow I should be OK until well into November. It'll save about £60 so Martin wold be proud of me. :money::D

LL I too prefer the little ones as they grow and develop into little people, I think that babies know that I don't give off the right vibes to them as they invariably yowl once I pick them up (or am passed one by the proud parents :rotfl:)

Maman - small world! My Uncle and Aunt had worked for the owner of Penrice Castle at his property in Shropshire, when he and his family relocated to Penrice my Uncle, Aunt (who had been Nanny before having her own children) and their family moved to Penrice, where he worked at the castle and on the estate. Uncle passed on far too young a few years ago, but Aunt and 4 out of 5 of the children (now with grown up children of their own) still live in the area. Might send you a little PM sometime if you don't mind?

Maman. Which newspaper was that please.

Yes our city is coming along leaps and bounds, there are still some eyesores, mainly dating back from when everything was ripped out in a spate of building in The 70s. Much of it pretty tasteless and it has it not worn well.

Luckily they either ran of money or finally woke up to the damage they were causing. Thankfully a lot of historic buildings did escape the bulldozers and there has been a concerted effort to preserve and enhance what's left.

Our city is not large but it's definitely on the up.......:D. We could do with a proper concert hall (ours has been standing empty for years, it's a sore point) and another theatre but I do think when it comes to restaurants, nice bars and pubs etc we punch above our weight. We are really getting into cafe culture these days.

We do have some lovely old buildings. They are currently developing both sides of the riverbank, a nice mix of smart apartments (my next move), shops and restaurants. It's all coming together nicely.

We are lucky there are plenty of work opportunities in the East Midlands and the economy has fared well, bouncing back nicely from the gloom of the 70s & 80s when we lost so many of our traditional industries.

It's certainly not grim in our part of the north......
