In response to feedback from our members we have revised the Terms and Conditions of membership, which we hope will be to your liking, these changes are described in this letter.
Also, to improve the ways we can use the information you provide, we would be very grateful if you could complete the short questionnaire at the end of this letter and return it to us in the pre-paid envelope enclosed. This information will, of course, be treated with the strictest confidence.
Terms and Conditions
Updated benefits of Membership
For each month you are a member you will be entered into a prize draw. The prizes are £175, £75, £50 and £25 M&S vouchers. To be entered into the prize draw you must continue to send regular messages.
If you complete a year of membership by sending at least 48 texts in the 52 weeks from the date you join you will be eligible for the special end of year benefits:
· You will be sent a £50 Marks and Spencer’s gift card
· If we supplied you with a set-top box to receive the service, at the end of the first year this becomes yours to keep, completely free of charge
· If you stay with the panel you will receive another £50 gift card for each subsequent year.
As a member of the User Panel, what must I do?
Once per week you will need to text the information shown on screen to a standard rate number.
· You must use Teletext Extra as the listings service on the main TV in your house. You should not use another digital service (e.g. satellite or cable) on the TV
· You will need to leave the set top box in standby.
· You must commit to sending a text every week for 1 year. To allow for holidays and other unavoidable absences we allow for 4 missed messages in the year, so you must send 48 messages in the 52 weeks from the date you join to receive your end-of-year benefits.
Important: If you do not send texts on a regular basis we will ask you to return the Freeview box (if we supplied it).
We may also ask for the return of the box and suspend further benefits if we have reasonable cause to believe you are not adhering to the terms and conditions.
How often do I need to send a text?
We would like you to send a message once a week on a Monday. Although you may vary the day you send the text by a day or so if necessary it is important to note that submissions are credited to you on a week running Monday to Sunday. So if for example you send a message on a Monday and the next one on the following Sunday these are considered part of the same week and do not qualify as separate submissions.
Do I have to do anything else?
From time to time we may ask you to fill out and return a paper questionnaire regarding your use of Teletext Extra or ask you some questions by telephone. We will keep this to a minimum. In the future you may also be asked an on-screen multiple choice question when you enter the user panel screen.
The Questionnaire – why are we asking for this information?
As you know we use the information you send us to monitor the response to advertisements within the guide, amongst other information. Our advertisers are usually interested in how responses vary across different “demographic groups”, that is whether there is greater or lesser interest amongst, say, women than men or young people rather than old.
By completing the questionnaire you will allow us to more effectively monitor these patterns. The information provided will never be supplied to third parties, and the only information supplied to advertisers will be how responses vary across groups – individual information will not be released.
Thank you once again for your support of the user panel.[STRIKE]30:22[/STRIKE]

I've been doing it for about 20 months.
Not sure what email address or phone number you are using but on the 2 or 3 occasions I've emailed them I've never had a problem and had a reply either the same day or the very next.
My 3 or 4 phone calls have been answered immediately and any issues dealt with without delay.
As for my M&S vouchers, they turned up about 6 weeks after the first 12 months had been completed (sent 49 texts in 52 weeks I seem to remember) without ANY enquiries, requests or chasing by myself

My year was up the start of October so after a week I rang the number I always ring if I have a problem and the lady who answered checked for me and said they would be out within the next week and sure enough about three weeks after I finished my year the vouchers arrived.
I have never bothered emailing, I just ring the number on the letter we got with our user numbers on. (01606 812500) Never had a problem with someone answering and I think a three week wait for vouchers was very reasonable.'Scars remind us where we've been, they don't have to dictate where we are going.'We come to love, not by finding the perfect person, but by learning to see an imperfect person perfectly.
