Argos leave tv outside

ARGOS REFUSE REFUND NO TV NO REFUND HELP PLEASE
I am writing to you to raise an issue about: Argos Online Orders
The issue that I have experienced was: I ordered a tv cost £1099 the delivery driver states he left the tv outside my house
I have not received any tv or signed to say to leave a tv outside my house
Argos states I told delivery man to leave outside house if I wasn't home I did not give permission for that Argos states they believe the driver when he says he left the tv outside the house at my request so thats the case closed no refund and no tv
They have advised me to report to police case closed
It occurred on: 26/11/2018
What can I do

So how exactly do Argos claim you informed the driver that he should do this?

What "proof" do they have that you gave permission to have the TV dropped off outside your house?

Write an LBA to Argos stating they have failed to deliver your order and if they don't issue a refund or replacement TV within 14 days you will issue a Small Claims against them.

Did you use a CC, can you not claim it back?
  • Did you call the police just to cover your A*S*
  • Goodness, this shows how careful we need to be about making arrangements for parcels to be left with neighbours etc

I don't beleive we have the full story here.

If the OP had told the driver as he said he did, where is the proof? Was it an email, phone call? If not, then the OP has a case and Argos are being silly.

Yep. There was another thread recently where a customer was happy for a £700 item to be left behind their gate! Now it's gone missing.

I can understand having "safe places" and arrangements with neighbours for low-value items, but people who arrange for expensive, thievable items to be left to casual arrangements for delivery are asking for trouble.

I recall that thread. We live in a culdesac at the top end, so usally ok to leave to the side of the hose but it makes you think. We also have Ring secuirty cctv that my DH installed, so it's a good back up.

On the other hand it's equally baffling that retailers are OK with £1000 televisions being left unattended in peoples back gardens etc.

Not that I'm suggesting that anything like this has happened in this scenario, but I'm wondering if a new kind of fraud is being developed.
    1. order expensive item from company that phones you when the delivery is on the way
    2. verbally give permission to leave it somewhere less than secure if you don't answer the door
    3. sit in car across the road until the item's been left at that location and the van's gone
    4. collect item
    5. contact seller claiming non delivery
    6. deny that you ever agreed item could be delivered anyway but to you personally
