How Many People Have Been Refused a Chargeback from RBS or NatWest

  • I’d reckon around 20-30% of claims are consistently rejected. The section 75 MI I had access to was nearer 50%.

Doesn’t mean much as folk can try and claim for anything really, you’d be surprised.

I am just carrying out some research to see how many on here have been refused

I guess it also depends very much on how you define a 'chargeback claim'.

For example, a 20 second call to customer services like this:
    • "I've bought a shirt but I don't like it and the shop assistant was rude to me, can you do a chargeback please?"
    • "No - that's not possible"

Is that a refused chargeback claim?

If that same claim was in writing, instead of a phone call, would it become a refused chargeback claim?
  • OP (from his previous thread) claims he has chapter and verse on a specific Chargeback Reason Code that would fit his dispute.

Sadly, because he is refusing to say what that RC is and exactly what his dispute is, no one will be able to provide any meaningful answers to anything he asks.

He's just yanking our collective chain again. And note the timing of this latest thread - another one during the school holidays.

You are just a person who thinks he knows everything. You dont know me from Adam and i was asking a general question.

When i do come back, i will block you so you cannot see what i am concluding to

These issues dont take a month to resolve. Dont you watch a programme called Watchdog?
  • You're probably right. So, would you like me to give you the answer to your question? - because I can - very accurately.

If you haven't blocked me yet, just let me know and the answer will be yours - free of charge - but you probably aren't going to like it.
  • It will be your opinion not an answer

I will read it, but it doesnt mean i have to take it in

Banks aren't the law, the courts are. A charge back can be initiated but when the recipient of the charge back sends in a defence that's where the banks draw the line and can no longer help. The bank can't take your word over theirs. The courts decide on civil matters not banks.

I have never lost a charge back (retailer) so yes I have had past experience.

But as there is no information to go on then it's anyone's guess.

Whenever I have done a chargeback I am asked the reason, chargebacks are supposed to be either for unauthorised transactions, or if the other party hasnt honoured their part of the agreement. If its clear its one of those reasons it will probably get approved.

But if you say something like oh I changed my mind on the purchase, they should turn you down.

I also expect if you someone who rarely if ever makes a chargeback, they are much more likely to accept your argument over say a retailer in defense. I have made 3 chargebacks in 20 years of using cards, and all got approved, including one where I was told by some people on a forum I had no case.
  • Unless it’s under a merchant return policy

Merchants refusing returns is a very popular chargeback. House of Fraser being a good example.
  • We need more info from OP - what the chargeback is for, why, with who, which bank etc.

But we won’t get that information so just move along. Nothing to see here
