Dobbibill said:datlex said:I have been reorganising my savings. Just using £400 for plumbing- new shower and a replacement outside pipe (two separate items that am getting fixed together). Currently I have one month of bills ready to pay them. I have a second month ready to replenish those. I did have more in this account but have added £1000 from there to my Barclays Blue Rewards due to the interest rate. Every penny helps pay off the mortgage...... Then I have what I consider actually savings. I have just over £6000 sat in savings excluding the month of bills. However of the £6000 some is self care (things like hair cuts), some is presents (birthdays and Christmas- I have several family birthdays around Christmas) and some is shorter term spends such as my new shower.
Keep up the good work
Dobbi
Not all of savings is counting as emergency fund. (of course if push came to shove it is money available).
I have a plan after Christmas to add an extra £100 a week to my blue rewards until it has £5000 in. Interest is only payable on balances up to £5000. I will have that funded by end of March.
Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.1 -

I've had a think about my new EF target and would like to change it to £9000.
I'm going to continue saving £50 a month for now, so I'm aiming to get to £8250 by the Dec 2024.
Thank you @Dobbibill !1
