Download the spreadsheet and then save a second copy of it, rather than trying to use the original template. It was created many years ago using free software and hasn't been altered much in all that time, so might show as read only in a different computer programme. I've ried it again myself with no problems.

Thanks. Got it sorted sort of :)

Thanks Frugaldom, it's good to know i'm not the only sucker. I may be losing one of my part time jobs soon so will have to get to grips with the problem.
I have 2 jobs (I hear tomorrow whether one is closing) , both in Customer Services. :grouphug: Hoping the High Street recovers soon..

Thankyou chocolatelo… for your message, I didn't realise so many people cared about workers on the high street.

Well I finally did it! Make some skincare night facial oil from essential oils and a few carrier oils. Cost me pence to make as opposed a well known Spa brand would be charging 60 quid. (used my birthday Amazon vouchers to purchase ingredients). Been saving loads of empty jam jars and bottles. to refill from what I've already used to be eco friendly Next on my list is moisturiser and hand cream for Hubby . I bought some cheap utensils from Wilkos (metal bowl, whisk etc )and some beeswax and shea butter online and after that I plan to make some bath bombs as I found a website that sells fragrance oils' Snow fairy' and 'Alien' fragrances which my daughter loves. My daughter got a snow fairy body spray from Lush 20 QUID !! I will be making that next (bit of witch hazel ,vodka and mineral water with fragrance) and that will be a fraction of the price. Think once I get a bit bit competent I will make as presents for others throughout the year
I worked in the beauty industry for many years and it never ceases to amaze me what a rip off it really is ! But to me skincare is as important as healthy eating and exercise being the largest organ of the body etc. I will keep you posted and I may even post a few recipes if anyone is interested ???

Please do, I make most of my own stuff - Wellness Mama has lots of recipes on her website I've tried. There's also lots of Lush copycat recipes on pinterest too.

sinkorswim I have curly hair and get it cut dry so the curl sits nicely, but it takes about 2 hours and costs £55 - I might have to start going to visit Nicki_Sue in N Yorks on a cheap bus trip:rotfl: The one good thing is that I only need to get my hair cut every 6 months or so and my mum gets me a haircut for my birthday present.

Whippet that's crap about your favourite job, hopefully you have some time to try and find something else. As if it wasn't hard enough without the high street collapsing the Brexit disaster is making the economic situation so much worse too. I lost my part-time job last year and now I'm fully self employed, which is a little bit scary and means I have to stick to budget very strictly:eek:

  • Fingers crossed its good news for you Whippet1 - I've been in your position before and its no fun at all.

For those of you who have curly hair, one of my work colleague's wife had extremely curly hair, and she always went to the local training college to have it cut. She reckoned that they were the only ones locally who could do the job properly, and she knew it would always turn out ok because it was either cut under the beady eye of the senior lecturer, or it was cut by the senior lecturer herself to demonstrate to students how it should be tackled. Pam didn't mind - she got a good haircut for a £5!

Thanks to everyone who expressed concern over my husband's job.

We're still no further on which is very stressful - he has another Long meeting tomorrow so should know more after that.

On a positive note at least I've sort of got into the habit of being frugal now so it won't be such a massive shock to the system if we have to cut back.

Whippet1 - fingers crossed you get some good news soon

  • We have set our selves the challenge of trying to reduce our water bill. We are using grey water to flush the toilet. However we can't afford a fancy system, so we are using a bucket that cost us a £1 and using our bath water to flush (pee only). We got over £20 rebate last year after installing another water butt. Anybody else got any money saving tips?
