Yes, there will be a new challenge set up for next month so those taking part have time to prepare. I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Payday tomorrow!
I've got £4.24 to last me and with a bit of will power I can do it but I really want a wetherspoons breakfast .
If I can get through today I will be debt free and have not finished up my month using my credit card or overdraft to see me through until payday for the first time in over 20 years.0 -
Fabulous Frugaldom. Thank you for letting me know.
Dave Saver that's an achievement. I really hope you do it because it will cement in your mind the feelings of willpower winning. Good luck. I'll be sure to come back to see if you achieve it.2020 Fashion on the Ration Challenge 4/66 coupons spent

Just de lurking to say Dave Saver deserves the biggest brekkie Wetherspoons has on offer, that's a tremendous achievement!
A bit about me - the death of my husband back in the summer has changed my financial situation but I am managing ok. I work two long shifts a week so have time to shop and cook carefully and make sure I don't waste money. I have about five years left on the mortgage and am managing to pay a bit extra off it every month so hopefully I will get it paid off sooner. I am not a complete tightwad, I live comfortably but have money in separate savings accounts (emergency funds, car expenses, holidays fund, fund for projects). I resent paying out for ready meals when I can cook better quality at home, sometimes for less. I have started making my own washing powder which works just as well as commercial brands, and will be wrapping Christmas presents in Christmassy printed fabric tied with toning coloured ribbon, instead of wasteful wrapping paper, much of which cannot be recycled.
None of us know what is around the corner so if we reduce and eventually eliminate debt, and build up some savings, we will be in a stronger position to deal with whatever life throws at us.One life - your life - live it!0 -

Good evening. I have been absent from MSE for quite a while but think it's time to get back on board. I had a light bulb moment recently - realised I needed to put a stop to my unnecessary spending and try and save more. Hubby is not in the best of health and I'd like a safety buffer just in case, plus he may well need surgery and a long time off work so we may well have to manage on a reduction in income. I used to lurk in the old style thread. This week I have done an inventory of the freezers and done s menu for next week meaning my food shop was less than half what it usually is. Although I am on a decent wage I have been topping our budget up every month with my own pocket money and would like to not have to.Do what you love :happyhear0

Hi folks, I have been MIA for most of 2019 - lost my MSE mojo. I've tried a few times to get back on track so hoping this is it this time! This has always been one of my favourite challenges so planning on posting here regularly.
Menu plan done for this week. We did a bigger shop in Lidl yesterday to make use of the £10 off a £40 spend voucher so freezer is well stocked with chicken and beef and YS bread.
Priority this week is to stick within budget for everything and minimise unnecessary spending. I have a few Christmas gifts still to buy but am planning to completely finish this by the end of November as I can't handle how busy the shops get in the run up to Christmas. I want December to be about slowing down and enjoying relaxed weekends by the fire rather than battling through the shops!0
