your moaning about a feature on a device that you decided to buy (which as far as i know can be remapped so that button does not do that) Plus this bixby issue was well known about on the phone as soon as it was released.

Your moaning about prices of phones. If you know what your price budget is then its easy to just get the phone to that price and not bother about phones that cost £1000 or under your budget.

Your having a random dig at carphone warehouse when there is plenty of other ways to get a phone.

Sometimes I feel customers expect companies to cater for their every need and wimp. The simple fact is a company is there to deliver a product that they want to sell to make a profit. This then requires them to make decisions that will not please everyone but at least caters to the customer base that will ensure they can continue to be in business for years to come. (Companies that don't do that will not be around)

If Customers take more responsibility in doing their research on what it is they actually want from a device and understand what relationship they want with that company then they would feel less angry or bitter when the device they bought does not fit their needs.

I know i come across harsh there but we are actually buying powerful handheld computers now and not some bog standard phone. So we have a lot of decisions to make on what we need out of the device other than making simple phone calls and messages. Simply looking a spec sheets is old hat and its the overall experience we have to think about when deciding to even part with £500 never mind £1000.
Apart from the gratuitous shot at Carphone Warehouse, the OP makes good points which have also been said by analysts and experts.

Some of what you say is I'll informed, you can't easily completely disable the button. Without extra software, you can't remap the button. There is a toggle in Bixby settings which SHOULD let you stop it working BUT it has the habit of turning itself back on.

There are apps which enable you to remap the button, but unless you connect the handset to a PC with ADB (or you've rooted) the screen will still come on.

When Bixby was launched it was promised that more languages would be supported soon (like British English) and that Bixby would get better at understanding what you mean. (Try attempting to get Bixby to learn Mum instead of Mom!) But it didn't. The latest info is that British English support will come with Bixby 2 with Android 9. Last week, Samsung released their roadmap which puts that in March for the S8 and April for the Note 8.

The same lack of efficiency applies to the rest of Samsung with defensive customer service, slow repairs, poor update schedule and odd software choices. These are sold as premium products but not treated as such. So yes, I agree with the OP. My next phone will be from the likes of OnePlus, Huawei etc.

Only if you can live with Android though. Many people can't/don't.

No need to spend £1000 on a phone OP. Plenty of phones around for £300.

Why would anone want a 3 year old phone when you can get a new one for far less than £300

A three year old iPhone is probably a lot better than a new £300 phone.

Any three-year-old phone's weakest point will be its battery

There are, of course, people that don't want iphones. Let's not turn this into another iphone vs android argument. Neither side is going to give way and they're boring.

If you’re really quick you can get a battery replacement from Apple before the end of the year for £25. That’ll keep you going for another 3 years at least.
