This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Happy Christmas everyone :santa2:
Well Santa has arrived here but of course all the kids are fast asleep and hopefully I won't see them for a few more hours yet. I have had 3 hours sleep so will be ok until later on when a nana nap will be in order.
I don't actually feel very well but will power through as I want to see the kids opening their presents and also I am looking forward to the grandchildren arriving sometime this morning. It will be chaos but that is ok. Lee has been told it is fine for him to escape to his bedroom whenever he feels a bit overwhelmed. Steve has offered to help do the Christmas dinner which is fabulous as he makes a lovely roast.
I am in a contemplative mood and can clearly remember past Christmases good and bad. I hope this one passes without an event and we all enjoy spending time with each other. My lovely friend called in to see me last night and it was great to see her but sad that her personal life is such a disaster at the moment. She has chosen to work all over Christmas as she is a live in carer but I hope she will find time to come and see us again. One of the best Christmases I ever had was when we were single parents together and had joined forces to make it special for our children. We didn't have very much money but we had a lovely time together and have lots of good memories of that period.
Well I will raise a glass at lunchtime to all of you on here who read my witterings and share your lives with me too. Hope you have a very Merry Christmas whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -

Merry Christmas :xmassmile
Sorry about that redruby You'll be pleased to know that the cheese and onion rolls weren't very nice at all, you weren't missing out on anything and I won't bother doing them again :rotfl:
taff Sorry no, I can only sing til Christmas Eve, after that I'm far too tipsy :rotfl:
dp1 That's worrying for you, I'll be thinking of you xx
As people arrived yesterday, I said the same thing to all of them “I'm going to give scamp a bone in a bit, please don't touch him or talk to him, leave him to it and he'll be calm and quiet”. Then when I gave him the bone, I reminded them to leave him alone. But people just had to try and stroke him, you'd think after the first bit of snarling everyone would realise I actually meant what I said, but no. I was quite relieved when everyone eventually left. I ran the hoover round, had a shower and settled down to watch The Muppet Christmas Carol
Mr tru has invited master tru and his GF to stay tonight – without asking me. They're going to have to sleep in the lounge, there's nowhere else for them to go. When I pointed out that I'm often wide awake in the middle of the night and end up on the sofa, and now I'm going to end up sat at the kitchen table at 3am, he just said he thought they'd turn down the offer. Why ask then?! They didn't turn it down and now I'm going to get no sleep tonight. I'm looking forward to tomorrow, when the house will be empty.

Good morning everyone and I wish you the best possible Christmas, happy holidays to those who don't celebrate.
Father Christmas has been here and he has nominated me as his elf as presents have been left in our bedroom to be brought down later. DS has his stocking, pandemonium when we 'lost' it but it turns out that OH was looking for a previous incarnation of it and it was exactly where I said it would be. Ahem.
OH will cater for breakfast and a snack in tge middle of the day and I am cooking dinner, which we always have in the evening. We used to have starters and pudding but long since realised that thiswas more than we could eat so now we just have the main course and there is cheese for those who want it. I always do want cheese but I mostly save it for boxing day because the quantity is too much. I must have been designed as a rabbit, serial grazing rather than a big blowout.
As ever I'm thinking of those of us who are sad worried or unwell. And also of those who, like me, have families who might be dysfunctional.
I will be back later if time allows.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Merry Christmas!
I tracked Santa before going to sleep. :rotfl:
No ide how the day will pan out yet. I'm going to put out the cards now, DM didn't get round to it yesterday.
I hope everyone has a lovely day. Special thoughts to the poorlies and the sad. Though I don't really take part in Christmas I hope the spirit of the season sprinkles down on everyone.0 -

Morning everyone
Silver-oldie - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one, thinking of those especially who are sad/worried/poorly/carers/lonely/homeless/those that are grieving x
Still pitch black and foggy - hard frost too.
I managed to get everything I wanted to done yesterday and wasn't working until really late like other years.
DH now in the bath, I'm enjoying peaceful start to the day on here, once I start doing the cooking and present opening I won't get back on until much later in the day if at all.
Merry Christmas x
Keep safe and well x

Good morning and Merry Christmas everyone. It's cold here with a hard frost brrr.
We are having a sirloin of beef today, and a HM pudding from last year - hope it's ok. It looks and smells fine, we'll give it a go. We don't have a starter, can't eat three courses now, our ageing guts can't take it.
Hope you all have a good day, thinking of you all.
Take care folks0 -
Merry Christmas everyone :xmastree:0
