Bought Xmas stamps today if that counts as prep? Cost more than the cards!

Oh and if anyone has O2 Priority and hasn't noticed, WHSmith are doing a free roll of Scotch Easy Tear sellotape for free until Sunday.

I had a huge wrapping session this evening! I listened to Heart's Xmas radio station on my phone whilst I wrapped :)

I don't usually wrap this early, but with the possible move coming up I don't want any last minute panics this year! All my friends' presents are wrapped, my friends' kids' presents are all wrapped up as well. So pleased to have them done.

I got my double up voucher eventually... can't say it was the smoothest process talking to their online chat about it being late/receiving it/finding the right products on store I could use it on... but hey. Got there in the end and picked up some snuggly socks for OH's mum and some skincare bits for myself from the Sainsbury's skincare range :)
  • Long time lurked used to post many years ago. Need some ideas from you lovely people. I have managed to get my 14 year old son an apprentice vet day at our local zoo. He want to work with animals and in particular at the zoo so really chuffed with that and it's his main present but obviously it's a voucher. I want to create a hamper or a treasure hunt style thing with mini gifts linked to it on the way but I've been so I'll recently I just can't think of what to put in it. Hit me with your ideas you fab people x

    Thanks

Today the boys wrote their letters to Santa.....it's officially the start of our celebrations. Tomorrow we're off to an event at the local stately home to (hopefully) see lots of Christmas trees! :D

will he be working with a particular animal or is it more general?
Zoo guide book if you can order in advance
zoo animal colouring book(one of the mindfulness style grown up ones)& pens
animal top trumps or anything that has animal facts esp about the animals hes going to be working with so he can brush up on his knowledge beforehand

Has anyone seen any really nice but not too expensive xmas stockings? I don't really want to be paying £10+ each if possible but the cheaper ones I've seen look really cheap this year :(

I do think the nectar double up has been a right balls up this year not sure if it was deliberate to put people off but it was so much hassle compared to previous years. I've heard so many complaints esp over the postal vouchers not arriving and even though I did mine via the app which was pretty easy no one in store knew what to do and there was the issue with the tills not accepting the voucher even though it should have.
this year do something that scares you for courage is not the absence of fear just the knowledge that some things are worth the risk
  • Thanks M and Co. Some good ideas there. He loves top trumps. He gets to work with the giants tortoise for definite and then it will depend on what needs doing on the day. He does really like the lemurs so will see if I can find a lemur!

Not sure about stockings, Sorry. I had the same problem last year. I’ve seen some nice ones this year and am going to splash out (£20 I think they are) as we’ll keep them for years to come.

Does anyone have any cheap, ethical hamper ideas? Not for the gifts inside, but the hamper itself? I want to make minimal work for myself this year, but also not waste money on things that aren’t going to be used again. I have a couple of hampers to make up, saw some little rattan box things in Wilko this morning, they were £2.50 each on 3 for 2 but looked a bit naff. Then again, can I really be bothered trawling the shops for something better? Probably not..
  • Evening everyone - have started prepping for Xmas.

I have my daughters birthday at the end of November, so have to get that out of the way first.

Going to pick up new Xmas tree from The Range next weekend. We threw away our old tree from Tescos that we'd had for years finally!

My parents lack originality in that my Dad has asked for slippers and my Mom an M&S Voucher (again)!

Hubby on the other hand is getting a personalised registration plate!

    Have a good week everyone!

Some shower gel and deodorant? It can get pretty whiffy working with animals.

How about wrapping some boxes in brown paper and decorating them yourself, either with embellishments you have around or even some holly / festive greens if you can find them? Bits that can easily be removed or left on (i.e. No glitter) for recycling.
