Hello, I've just discovered this thread via the "Save £12k in 2019" one. I've spent £350 on groceries in December (and I wasn't even entertaining!) which is ridiculous for a single person. I've got a well stocked freezer though.

Could you please put me down for £120 p.m. Thank you.

mine was similar and also a single person !!

Popped into Home Bargain today to get a new hot water bottle and spent £8.11 on foodstuffs. Frylight, bread, jalapeños etc.

Dinner is chicken curry. Starting to make a dent in the freezer already.
  • Big shop at the weekend came to £54.50, so I've £5.50 left for top up shop (need rolls closer to Thursday and chicken for the weekend). Ought to be just about doable. I've also set the breadmaker going for the first time in about 5 years, so if we can get on top of this, then that'll be a decent saving, plus one less thing to need to pop to the shops for. OH has been to a couple of shops too, but I don't currently have control of his spending, that will come! I just need to make sure I don't cheat and use him to buy the stuff I don't want to budget for!
  • Can you put me down for £200 please, thanks :)

I'm aiming for £31 for food only, not including very occasional eating out. I'm hoping a tight budget will help me get creative with my overstocked cupboards and freezer. Just me, with occasional visitors.

Hello and Happy New Year to all!

Would love to join in please with a target of £190 till the 25th

Will be spending today doing a freezer and cupboard inventory. We should be plenty of main meal components so it'll be DS approved foods (suspected ASD/ADHD/SPD).

NSD today.....we had our roast dinner last night. Today the Ht can have pizza and picky bits from the fridge (there's some pigs in blankets left over and some sausage rolls) and I will have home made leek and potato soup that I hauled out of the freezer.

I've just put the last of the mince pies in the freezer. I was going to throw them out as I'm trying to lose weight but then I came to my senses - they'll be fine as an occasional treat :)

I confess I love our soup maker. Vaguely chop anything I like, add stock or water, and it's all done in 20 minutes to portion out. I find its less washing up.
A breadmaker would be wasted on me though

My downfall is popping into M&S on the way home from work for a pint of milk and coming out with 20 quids worth of food! So I'm hoping this thread will make me more aware and organised re meal planning etc.

If you don't go into the shop you can't spend the money:D

  • Small soup maker ordered out of my 2018 spending will collect on Wednesday. Today's meals hv all come from the huge stockpile of food l seem to hv built up. Just hopes there's not too many face pulling when teas served. x
