Browsing in store today I saw the My Mood range or whatever it is! Hadn't noticed it as a regular range before.
Noticed they had the body wash and scrub which are £6 and £8 each that were part of the sets they had loads left of! I hadn't been sure if they were meant to be targeted at kids or teens previously, but from looking at the range it seems more geared towards teens (hence the Body scrub being included). Even though the packaging made it look more like kids stuff.

I don't understand why they would still have that rule come 90% day, if they've not shifted the stock by then you'd think they'd just want to see the back of it! Particularly considering a lot of what they have come 90% day is the stuff that they just can't shift!

Most stores don't as it is totally at the managers discretion. It sounds as if it is something personal with the poster and the store.

Charities often run gift wrap stalls (where volunteers wrap presents for a donation) at Christmas, so wrap could easily be dontated to such places for that.

If only it was so easy. It is like when Boots used to do swimwear. That was also given away or destroyed at the end of the season. Again a lot got destroyed due to lack of charity takers.

I know its probably a bit labour intensive but they could just cut the barcodes out to prevent returns before they donate or give to customers.

As you say it is labour intensive especially where items inside the outer packing may have barcodes on as well.

What about makeup and smellies going to local hospices.

In my county the council run collection points of toiletries for teenage children who's parents can't afford to buy them.

Woman who have escaped domestic violence.

They would be grateful for makeup to smellies. Not sure about gift wrap and gift tags.

    But very shocking and wasteful

I would suggest you let those places know and suggest they get in touch with the local Boots, and vice versa.

Figgi - it doesn't matter which store I go to, they all have this hard and fast rule of no more than 6 items. They don't have any signs up stating this whereas Lidl have signs up when they have special offers to say "6 per customer". If Boots had signs up fair enough but one member of staff even told me it was the law. Yeah right.

I have links with people who work for a community food bank/toiletries bank/clothing bank and would love to be able to buy clearance stock for them in abundance (when the items are really cheap and I can afford to do it). No chance in Boots as you can only have 6. Superdrug on the other hand will go and search the stockroom for me for more cheap items. Just shows how different attitudes can be.

At the 70% off sale there were most definitely people buying more than 6 of many items (entire shelf end of S&G anyone? Or perhaps you'd prefer to take every single Lynx set madam?) so I guess it depends on individual stores / areas.

Personally I'm all for the 6 item rule in instances like that to make it fairer for all, but also see the point about items on final clearance just before a store closes. Still, 6 is better than 0 to help out I guess.

I agree with you about the 70% off sale. It would be easier if I didn't have to make several trips to the store (I'm 5 miles away so 10 miles round trip) just to come away with 6 items each time. By the time I've paid bus fare or petrol it means the items are far more expensive. Just means I cannot help the food bank as much as I would like to. Buying 50 shower gels at say 50p in one trip = £25 plus bus fare £4 (£29). Buying the same quantity at 6 at a time = 8 trips. Therefore a total of £57. Almost double the cost. Plus the chances are the stock will have gone before I can buy it all. Never mind - my business just goes to Superdrug instead of Boots.

I only heard the 6 item ruling mentioned by staff on 70% day this year when another customer complained that those hoarding the stock were buying to sell. Then the staff member went and told them they could only have 6 of each item.

Come 90% day it's all a bit pointless really I just don't understand why they would, must be just individual staff misunderstanding the so called rule, surely?!

When I've seen people buying masses of items there's usually been a few of them that's come working together anyway so they can just take 6 each to the till if push comes to shove. Quite difficult to control in reality. I've noticed the 6 item rule online on he odd deal more than in stores. I think it must be very much left up to individual stores to decide.

Can't understand why charity shops would refuse certain things, I guess they may worry about hygiene with swimwear but if it's tagged then I can't see the issue. Even so I've seen used swimwear in some charity shops so hygiene can't be so much of an issue for them.

Even with the Zoella desk calendars and K&K keyrings & other stuff they couldn't shift, they could use them as raffle prizes and make quite a bit from it if they did it as 'prize every time' for example.

Also, these days a lot of charity shops sell online and on Ebay so it baffles me that they would refuse them....
