Mines got tons of Zoella calendars.
Think they'll need to go to 25p or summer daft to get shut of 'em, lol:rotfl:euronorris wrote: »Wonder what they'll do with excess stock then? As my local as still got tonnes of the Kylie Jenner stuff in. They can't shift them! lol
The official line is to destroy them or donate them to a local charity shop, if certain things are applicable.
But most will be destroyed.0 -

That is shocking that most items will be destroyed.
how wasteful

Totally wasteful to destroy them, particularly in an age where there's so much focus on being kind to the planet!!
I have seen roll wrap in Oxfam in years gone by which is a nice gesture. I doubt charity shops would get much for the Zoella calendars though, they'll just end up sat on the stock as we are already into March.
How about just giving them to customers as a goodwill gesture?
As it happens I've been in mine this morning and they still have a shelf full of Zoella calendars which they have just moved over to the regular clearance section instead.0 -

The issue with giving them to charity shops is as you said a lot don’t want them currently as it will mean storing till next year.
There is also the issue of some people trying to return them to Boots as unwanted gifts0 -
What about makeup and smellies going to local hospices.
In my county the council run collection points of toiletries for teenage children who's parents can't afford to buy them.
Woman who have escaped domestic violence.
They would be grateful for makeup to smellies. Not sure about gift wrap and gift tags.
But very shocking and wasteful

Charities often run gift wrap stalls (where volunteers wrap presents for a donation) at Christmas, so wrap could easily be dontated to such places for that.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Boots would rather destroy goods than let people buy more than 6. Such a silly rule - they would rather destroy items than put money in the till. A very strange business model indeed. I was willing to take a load of stuff on Friday and clear the shelf but was told yet again "you're only allowed 6". It was 4pm and an hour or so left until they closed and still they wanted other customers to have the opportunity of buying them. "If you take them all there'll be none left for other people". Isn't that the idea?? Clearance means you want to clear the shelf and get rid of your stock - I'm a customer that wants to clear it for you and you won't let me.0

Christmas 2019 will already be in the planning and stock / contracts already agreed and manufacturing in progress if not already complete. So it will be too late to drop it if a 2 year deal has already been agreed. We seem to see the celebrity endorsed ranges for a couple of years before they knock it on the head. I guess anything longer than a couple of years is a bit of a risk where celebs are concerned as you don't know how long they'll be around for.
I wonder if we'll be seeing Zoella this year? To be fair although there's been the odd 'booby prize', Advent calender last year, desk calendars and travel cups this year, some of the range such as the lunch boxes have been quite nice.0
