What content on what device have you paid for in a way that grants you a licence to view it in any territory worldwide?
Where when you watch and record BBC One content at home does it tell you can't watch it in the same house on a different device ?

You could open a disposable mailinator account for him. And just keep a note of his login details after that.

The last paperback book I bought granted that right.

  • ...or is there some other way in which this person can 'register'?

A cursory look at the BBC FAQs tell me there isn't...
From memory you can register by phone. Information given on screen as part of the registration process.

Yep, but you don't need a VPN to read it.

I still want to know why the OP needs a VPN to watch something in a different room in the same house.

Why can you not just go set it up for them IPlayer that is, not email.

They obviously have an internet connection or they wouldn’t be able to access iplayer so surely you can just go and make them a gmx email and sign them in to BBC, ITV etc.

My aunt had internet installed so she could use free view play. Well technically she had internet because talktalk sold her it and she had no idea what it was. But she got a new smart tv and decided to keep it for that.

I just made a gmx. Signed her in and forgot about it. She didn’t want to put any personal details on the internet so I just used a made up name. Took all of thirty seconds.

Yes it’s crappy of the bbc as a lot of older people are very wary of the internet. But sadly there’s nothing you can do about it. Just help them set it up so they can use the service.

Could you quote where OP said that? I can't find it.
  • Missing the point, I am watching on my device owned and bought in the UK registered with them in the UK , so what are the BBC et al saying I can't go abroad for holidays, it's the same with the national-lottery, and other sites? Content is king, which I have paid for, why should I have to fork out for the ambassadors in whatever territory I choose to visit, I don't want to watch stuff illegally using VPN's {:rotfl:) just want to watch I have paid for. Using another analogy I record UK programs which I am allowed to do for my own use, but I can't watch HD programs recorded on my lounge TV on a usb stick in the kitchen, because of they are supposed to be encrypted so that I can't ship them off to youtube etc. The whole thing is a mess imho(or imco)
That's like saying you should be able to drive your car when abroad according to UK road rules. You're abroad so you don't get the same access to UK services while there, no matter where you bought the device.

Selective response, you don't address the second part about within the same household
