I have made the very difficult decision to resign from my job.
It's been even more horrible the last few weeks at work and I'm sick and tired of the place; the demands, the stress, the workload.
- Colleagues have been off and their lists have been merged onto those still in, even when the managers know it's not just the odd day (which we'd accept), but a month at least. Keep having to work through breaks and lunch.
- Leave cancelled again, even though it'll be lost if not taken in this holiday year.
- Patients refusing to wear masks (not exempt) and we're still expected to treat them.
- When I started the course I've just finished I was promised a move up a pay band, with an accompanying pay rise. That promise has now been reversed.... they expect me to work at the new level, but for no increase in band or wage. Erm, no.
So, I asked for a meeting with my manager where I summarised my concerns and was basically told to put up with it or leave. So I resigned last week, as have several of my colleagues (not because I did, but for similar reasons). Now, out of a team of 12 of us, 3 are off sick indefinitely and 4 of us have resigned. The powers that be are now panicking and making all kinds of promises; too little, too late.
I'm out of there
Well, not for a while as I have a 3 month notice period... although because they've kept cancelling my annual leave, I actually finish on 17th Dec. Can't bloody wait
I resigned without actually having another job to go to, which is very unlike me. However, I've got 2 interviews next week for permanent jobs and I've also signed up to a locum agency to start work mid January if nothing comes from the interviews.
The locum agency have found me a contract that triples my current hourly rate, so that's not too shabby. My preference would be permanent though. We'll see

Well done you. Sounds like you have done the right thing and I take it from the owed leave you will still get paid for it? So you have time to find something else. We are 3 people short at the moment and everyone is expected to pick up the extra work it's so stressful. Whilst I'm grateful to have had a job through all of this I don't feel like the work we have put in has been slightest bit appreciated I imagine it's same for you 🙁*Dad loan - £5300 - £7200

Sounds like the right thing to do and certainly looking like you'll secure something else soon.
Employers are certainly taking the p*** with staff in the current climate, absolutely shocking.6 -
Well done you! We all know you've been struggling with this job for a while. You will find something permanent and hopefully, this will make the powers above sort it all out!

Good for you and good luck with your interviews. I am so glad we are retired and not having to put up with all the rubbish being thrown at people.

Thank you everyone
Yes, NHS. The annual leave owing will be paid, so I leave on the 17th but will be paid 3 months salary from when I handed my notice in last week, so mid Feb.
It's been tricky for a while, even pre C-19. The pandemic has just reiterated how little the management are bothered about our health (mental and physical), it's all a numbers/stats game to them. But if you make a mistake as you've been run into the ground, they don't stand by you.
We work in a very litigious area and it's just not worth the stress and worry. I genuinely feel like a weight has been lifted. I had a meeting with HR and management today and they were offering all sorts to stay and I just sat there thinking 'I don't care what you offer, it won't be enough'. I'm counting down the days until the 17th....
