Its the weather - was a little wet when we were away up north, but nothing a coffee shop couldn't cheer up, but then back at home (midlands) its just been wet wet wet, and although they were a fabulous musical combo they are not what you want for a solid week.  a little bit depressing - maybe that explains the meh! feeling

also restless is because you've successfully made a few big changes - debt, job, ... but maybe you just haven't settled in to the new routine.  Also, although aspirational, becoming a little bit more comfortably off just doesn't have the zing about it that becoming DF did.  There you had a target now you have a lifestyle.  So maybe make sure you redecorating target is more than a wish and focus on it (nearly) as much as you had done your debt - or maybe its the wrong target, but there should be something.  Maybe a personal aspiration now you have more time whether that be keep fit, weight, art and crafts, pensions, savings, ...

I agree with making a redecorating target to help refocus a bit.

  • Brilliant result on getting through to payday with no overdraft or credit card.  Shame your colleague has Covid again.  I did not realise you could get it again either.  Hope you did not get it too badly.
I didn't have it too bad thanks, just felt exhausted and lost my sense of taste and smell.  A few of my colleagues had positive antibody tests and hadn't even realised they'd had it!
No, I hadn't either.  Apparently the antibodies only last a certain number of months and then you're unprotected again and there are loads of different strains, so you're not immune to all.  Or something like that!  Unfortunately (or fortunately) depending on how you look at it, the hospitals are starting to get back to normal with patient numbers etc.  With the increase in numbers, there's a perceived increase in risk for staff as we come into such prolonged close contact with patients.  The masks are pretty useless, so it's pretty inevitable we'll catch it several times over.  Management couldn't care less, although there's no real alternative, I guess.

Yes, I think you're right.  The weather and the lack of any real goals probably aren't helping.  I'm working an average of 22.5 hours a week instead of the 30 hours I'd been doing since last year and I've been surprised that I've not felt less tired, especially as I had been studying too.  But then, it's the summer hols, so when I'm not at work, I'm running around after 5 kids :D  I think the return to school this week will help delineate time off a bit better.
I like the idea of a new goal to focus on.... our house projects are large ones now and will require a lot of saving in advance.  Getting fitter would be good, or finding a new hobby.... will have a ponder :)

Definitely need to refocus on something.... I have a 'busy' brain, too much down time is never a good thing, I start overthinking :D

That's the spirit.  If all that fails I am sure your work would be delighted for you to return for a few more hours and then you can use your restlessness jogging all the way to the bank :smirk:

  • Kids went back to school today - woohoo!  All went in and came out happy, so I'll call that a win
Have decided to tweak my hours at work to further reduce childcare costs.  I'll be doing 2 slightly longer days, so I can leave earlier on the 3rd day and pick children up after school.  Saves up £75 a month and they're happy as they only have to go to after school club twice a week.  Win win :)

The £75 pcm is a great win and as Mark says opportunity to get out on time. I too have been feeling flat if it is any consolation - I think the weather and all the uncertainty is really not helping.

Another one for feeling flat here SH.  Not helped that 2 interesting things I was lining up for at work have just been moved out a few months, so I will have to find something or get put on less interesting things - which I think might be a more of a challenge when working from home, and there is no sign of more office based work for the forseeable.
