Busy day at work today... makes me laugh (sort of) when people are happy it's the weekend. I work Saturday-Tuesday, so Saturdays are the start of my working 'week'. Pleasant enough day, busy but manageable.
Still loving having switched back to Mr A for shopping, looking forward to seeing what a full month's shop comes in at, but I think we'll be pleasantly surprised.
Quiet one planned tomorrow, need to do some DIY prepwork as have quite a lot of painting to do before some carpets are laid the end of October. Booked the carpet fitting in (all budgeted) to give me a deadline to get painting done by, now I'll have to get it done :rotfl:DFD March 2025 (£35000 paid off)

Have turned into a right night owl... I find the best time to update on here is when everyone has gone to bed. Next thing I know, it's 23.16 and I'm falling asleep on the sofa! :rotfl:DFD March 2025 (£35000 paid off)

Painting prepwork done! I'm at work Monday and Tuesday, so will crack on with the painting Weds-Fri. My little one will be in full time school, so hoping to get the first room done completely in those 3 days. Have got all the paint, brushes etc already, so no spending on the room planned.
First full day of school plus before and after school care for my youngest tomorrow, hope he handles it ok.... 9 hours in school is a long time when you're only 4
I've counted up and if I finish childminding and retail job on the weekend I have in mind, I only have 8 weeks of each (actually 10, but I've got some annual leave planned). Now that I'm committed to streamlining to one job and maximising my income, I'm keen to get going!DFD March 2025 (£35000 paid off)

Little one managed his first long day at school today really well, so proud of him. My other 2 children kept him company at breakfast and after school club... child 3 is in year 6 and all her friends thought he was 'cute' and 'adorable' so they're all mothering him
NSD day.... I'm getting good at taking lunch to work, as is OH. It's a bit dull, but I'm sure it's saving us money :cool:DFD March 2025 (£35000 paid off)

Ah that's great - it's so awesome that he has his bigger siblings there to show him the ropes.
Taking lunch to work makes such a difference to my monthly spends, I'm sure you'll notice a big difference soon, especially if both of you are doing it.3 -
Tired today; forgot how tiring the school/work/children routine was over the summer. Kids are knackered too, which is making them more fractious. It'll settle down in a week or two. Given myself 30 minutes to sit and chill after school run and then I'm off to paint! :rotfl:
Nothing new money wise to report, just trundling along until payday. We really haven't been spending much day to day, but I know that won't show in the figures for this month because of our holiday, back to school expenses and school trips all sat on the credit card. Hoping to pay off all that out of September's pay as really have to start looking at getting Christmas stuff and don't want to start Christmas shopping unless clear of the summer expenditureDFD March 2025 (£35000 paid off)

Watching 'Homes under the hammer' while on a cheeky break from painting. Would love to buy houses to do up, OH and I looked into it a few years back. In the end, we had a 5th baby so we stuck to our home and extended, but would definitely like to revisit it in the future.
My colleague has bought a couple of properties in uni towns and does well from it.
First step, of course, is to get ourselves in a better financial position!DFD March 2025 (£35000 paid off)

Painting was successful yesterday, first coat done on walls and woodwork. More painting to do today, had some errands to run first thing, so I won't be able to finish it all. I'm thinking, second coat on walls today and second coat on woodwork tomorrow.
It's my little one's room I'm painting and have given myself £100 budget. I found some lovely eyelet blackout curtains at Ne*t, only £35 and a lightshade in Dun%lm Mill for £20. Ordered some prints off Etsy for £20 and some bedding from J@hn Lewis for £25. So bang on budget and his room will look fab, very pleased. I'm hoping it'll all come over the weekend.
I'm keeping all the existing furniture in there, as it's in decent nick and in a few years I'd like to get him one of those high sleepers as he's got the 'box' room, although it's not too bad a size reallyDFD March 2025 (£35000 paid off)
