I love the payday anticipation these days - used to be "what can I buy myself". These days it's more "can't wait to update my spreadsheet" haha!
Fingers crossed you'll make headway with the credit card this month!I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

Day off today, started with a rubbish morning! Kids 3, 4 and 5 were in one of those niggling moods so I was just telling them to 'be nice' or 'if you can't say something nice, say nothing'... several episodes of being sent to their rooms etc. We ended up late for school, so did the mad running across the playground to lob them in the last open doors.... just managed it.
At the school, if you miss the open doors, you have to do the walk of shame to reception where they're sooooo slow to painstakingly list the late comers that they make the kids even later
After doing the school run for 11 years now, I know the last door to shut and the one that has a friendly TA who'll see you coming and hold off closing it :rotfl:DFD March 2025 (£35000 paid off)

To cheer myself up, I bought myself a £1 box of maltesers from Mr T and will sit here scoffing them, drinking a pepsi max and doing my finances for the month. I'm so classy :rotfl:DFD March 2025 (£35000 paid off)

Sounds like a really tough morning with the kids. Your reward sounds like the type of reward I'd have too. Hope you enjoyed it!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

I did at the time, then felt a bit sick :rotfl:
They get really tired doing before and after school sessions on the days I work, by Wednesday they're awful. I'm going to be doing a 3rd day from November, dread to think what they'll be like  Needs must though.... I have looked at using a childminder instead as would be a calmer environment, but would be 30% more expensiveDFD March 2025 (£35000 paid off)

My morning routine is like a well oiled machine. But the last two days have seen spanners in them, and it's been super stressful. My 15yr old had a panic attack on Monday morning, which I didn't respond to well at all, anthis morning I was dropping my neice to school, but my sister got stuck in traffic getting her to me so we had to run for the door too!
My 15yr olds behaviour has been shocking this week, hoping she gets over, what is quite clearly a hormonal issue soon. We rarely clash, so it has not been very harmonious here.Debt free Feb 2021 🎉3 -

My 15yo daughter has had a couple of panic attacks too, I struggle to be patient which sounds really bad. First time I thought she was faking it as she can be a bit of a drama queenWith her, they're definitely linked to hormones and when she realises she's left something too late (like homework), she can't switch off the worry and just do what needs to be done, winds herself up until she can barely breathe

Calmer morning this morning, no dramas!
Just had a hair cut and colour, which was a few weeks overdue... I've changed my hair colour slightly over recent years so it's lower maintenance and I only have it coloured 5 times a year now. I also dropped a level or two in hairdresser, which made a big difference in price. I still struggle with the thought of not tipping, but have reduced the amount a bit.
One big Christmas saving I'm deliberating is not buying the kids fancy advent calenders (lego, make up etc), they're £20-25, so would save upwards of a £100 between the 5 of them. But they absolutely love them, so I'm dithering a bit on it. Might see how well I do on bringing down the credit card this month and let that be the decider!DFD March 2025 (£35000 paid off)

I have a wooden advent calendar for Spud from Aldi that you fill yourself. Last year, I got stickers from home bargains and a multipack of sweets, divided them up between the compartments and dropped in the odd lego person here or there for extra excitement. It was far cheaper than a Lego calendar, but now I just have to get the fillers every year - something worth considering?
Even for beauty, you could buy a £5 gift set from somewhere like Superdrug or boots and divide the contents up in the calendar?3 -
I have a communal advent calendar that is a felt one with pockets that can be filled with small chocolates, so everyone gets something but it's much cheaper than lots of advent calendars. An advent candle is a welcome addition on the table, except I keep forgetting a day or two and end up having to let it burn down!paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.
