How do you find Now TV Broadband?

  • I signed up for broadband and landline. Deliver was very good and hub was tracked.
Problem I am finding is with payments. I gave out my debit card (long number) during the sign-up process - via MSE actually. I thought that was just an initial way of paying and that NOWtv would contact me to set up a monthly direct debit but it would appear all payments are drawn direct from my debit card.
That's worrying as their help link is no good to be honest, you find yourself in a permanent loop. Once you are paying via your debit card you lose control over payments, unlike with direct debit payments. Neither can I get NOWtv to switch me to direct debits.
I'm OK/committed for 12 months but my concern is what happens when/if I want to change provider? How do I stop payments at that time? This may well be an area Martin Lewis might want to look at.
Having said that, reception is good and although I require only very basic broadband it's good enough for my purposes.
If you look at feedback on the internet however, NOWtv has a lot of unhappy customers! Mostly based on the payment regime and lack of customer service availability.
    Just be careful.

Yes they only do debit card payments akaik.

When the contract ends they will stop taking payments like any other company
  • Well I've decided to sign up. They say I should go live on 10th January. Seemed too good an offer to ignore...

Can anyone comment on now BB WiFi router speed? I have heard it slow comparing to BT etc.

It's the same at the Sky router.

I think the speed is ok, but the WiFi signal could be better.

But you can buy an old Sky/Now "stand up" router off ebay, and just plug it in, and it will work. (just need to know the wifi password or reset the router to defaults)

I think its the same as the sky Q router. Definitely not the same as the older sky router (though you wont have to change routers if you dont want, the changeover is instant and broadband works fine on either).

For me i need the 4 LAN ports on the router as the house is cabled and wifi is barely usable upstairs or in the back rooms. In fact the Sky router i currently have the wifi is totally crap. Drops around 60% strength over 2m and a single block wall. The now router only has 2 LAN ports so mine is still in its box.

I am with Plusnet. I have registered with Now TV BB transfer date 16th Jan. TCB already been tracked.

We only use wireless connection downstairs and upstairs. What would you suggest for WiFi? Will the plusnet router will work with Now TV BB?

    Thanks

We just managed to switch from Talktalk to NOWTV Broadband today, after signing up 2 weeks ago. My Talktalk went dead at about 10am, changed to the new Now Hub 2 router and the internet went smoothly. The phone line for some reason did not ring in the first hour, but after that, everything seems to work fine now, and we could use the old Talktalk number! Our Fabfibre Internet speed varies from 28Mb to 37Mb, but I understand it can fluctuate during the first week.

The only downside is that Quidco for some reason did not track my order, which is a shame as one of the reasons I chose to go with Now Broadband this time is to get £80 Quidco cashback. I've raised a claim, but don't know how it'll go as I've had a few unsuccessful claims with Quidco before. :(
