When do the registrars of the share count shareholder for the dividend is itthe start of the Ex div date or the end?
You basically need to own the shares the evening before the ex-dividend date.
If you sell on the morning of the ex-dividend date, you should receive the dividend.

I am guessing the end.
Just wanted to check before making a costly mistake of selling before the div payout.0 -
The article on share dealing does not yet mention Hoodless Brennans new £5 per Quarter charge, which is waived if a trade has been made in the previous quarter.
...from the hoodless horse's mouth:
. New Commission Rates from 1st October 2007From 1st October 2007 your commission rates will automatically reflect the number of trades you completed in the previous quarter as follows:
Number of Trades in Previous Quarter
Flat Rate Commission Per Trade
20+ £6.50
11 to 19 £7.00
1 to 10 £8.00
Requiring just 20 trades a quarter to benefit from our lowest rate of £6.50 we hope you'll agree we continue to offer excellent value for money. Some of our competitors require more trades than that to benefit from their lowest commissions or can’t match our lowest rate.
Each quarter your commission rate will be set according to the amount of trades you made in the previous quarter, so the more you trade the less you pay!
Time to recalculate the value of this service, especially for '1 to 10'-ers amongst us.
Or am I missing something wonderful somewhere?0 -
1 to 10 £8.00, still represent a good value for money, unless i am missing something!

Because of various takeovers I have shares worth £2000 - £3000 in AMP, which I now want to sell. Their registered office is in Australia and I am British, living in England. I have emailed them asking how to go about selling, with no reply as yet.
Does anyone know how I can sell these Australian shares? Can I use my bank (NatWest), or Selftrade as I have seen recommended here? Even though the shares are Australian?0
