Did you book back off sick leave on your first rest day or first day back at work? do your bosses think you were sick for 10 days.Originally Posted by shortcrust

what are rest days? I have never heard of them, is it an entitlement you are allowed (all companies or just the ones that give it)?0

Where I work, rest days are non rostered days, traditionally most people have sat & sun as rest days but if you cover 24/7 and do a few 12 hour shifts in a row it’s then easy enough to have a few rest days in a row, or 7 days every few weeks.Originally Posted by shortcrust

I'm assuming 'rest days' are simply non-working days. If that is the situation then I would have thought self-certification for 3 days would be enough. You will have a problem getting a sick note from your GP after the event if they didn't see you during the period you were off.0

As the OP advised that they were sick for four days then they should self-certify for that period. This might be important if they only get SSP. If this period of sickness was to link with a previous or next period it would increase the SSP received. A sickness of three days is ignored for SSP purposes.0 -
You really are having lots of trouble with sick leave aren't you?

Check out the Working Time Regulations which cover rest as well as work.0 -
Formal rest days will effect many shift workers who work long anti social hours on variable shifts, they're not really applicable for someone working in an office for example.
As for the original question, no one on here will be able to give you the answer only you line manager/HR team will be able to give you the answer. The campaign against overpowering signatures0
