Ill stress again. I did not at no point give my PIN volentarily. With all due respect I ddi not come here to be blamed. I feel I did nothing to compromise my PIN. I have come here for advice as I must get this cifas contested and removed. I have no idea how the process of remiving a marker happens.

You were advised in post #3 what to do.

A quick google of "how to remove a CIFAS marker" gives plenty results.

Like the others say, there is more to this than you are divulging.

If you are not happy with the way the bank have handled this then make a formal complaint and take it to the ombudsman if not settled to your satisfaction.

Did someone threaten you into giving them your PIN?

I'll begin by saying the only thing I believe on your post is that you have a CIFAS marker.

    At first I thought you had a deal with your friend where he'd spend money and you'd just claim fraud and be reimbursed but then;

I was made aware of various large payments made within a 48hour period

Now you must be the unluckiest person on the planet to have your bank card stolen, worse by a friend from college, even worse he knew your PIN despite you being so secure with it and the real kicker? He just so happened to be an opportunist money launderer with immediate access to large sums of money to move in the one day he had your card. Talk about having a bad day!

Or, the whole stories false, and like the vast amount of people lately, you've been caught cleaning funds through your account to try make some extra money whilst at school. Perhaps you imagined we'd be more receptive if we felt you were wronged?

I may be right off the mark and being really unfair but an accidental cat 6 marker on a student that reported a fraud with no investigation? Yeah, I have more chance of getting a reasonable deal on popcorn at the cinema.

A quick read up of other posts I completely see where you are coming from. I am not saying its anyone i know who did it just that I was in a busy town centre the day my debut card went missing. It could be someone i know it could be a total stranger. All i know is my cards balance was rinsed and then topped up with money and then rinsed into overdraft. Besides, I was able to prove I was in college through attendence records during the hours my card was used. I contact the police 101 immidetely. I have nothing to hide here. My story is 100% truthful.

Bank B did put a cat 6 with no explination and then stating they cannot speak to me as i do not have an account. I sent them a full letter with scans of college attendance and a detailed account of what i beleive happend and my report to the police. I received no response. I came here out of desperation I have little idea how banks work.

Of course you were somewhere else when the spending occured. This is how the attempted scam works.

There are precisely two ways that someone else can get your PIN:

    1) They guess

    2) You tell them - either directly, or indirectly (by failing to take adequate protection to keep it secret).

    Which was it?

Id like to stress although my PIN number was used and I reported a party who I suspect is responsible, I did not compromise my details to anyone.
You don't seem to realise OP that these two statements contradict each other.

Unless you're claiming the person has guessed it.

  • So we’re you in a busy town centre or at college?

And how do you know that was the day your card went missing?

    Maybe this?

My PIN has been the same for many years but never compromised it to anyone as its the same number for my house alarm phone passcode various passwords

So, perhaps someone knows that number for one of those and tried it on your bank card ?

Was any money taken out of an ATM? If so i thought banks had cameras on those. You could write to the bank ask them to look at those. And try again with the police.
