Engineer stole from car

Is it just me that doesn't have a huge pile of shrapnel kicking around in the car all the time, then?
Doesn't the rattle of all those coins drive you round the twist?0 -
My parking change is in an old chewing gum pot in the covered container, (camouflage!) and even the jingling of those coins annoyed me. Now it's in a money bag inside the chewing gum pot. They call me Dr Worm... I'm interested in things; I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm.0

No, but I don't leave £20 in the glove box either...
The comments implying that the daughter is lying, or has been stupid are just bizarre, you don’t expect to have to remove everything of value from a car when a company works on it.0 -
We always leave our items in the car when it goes to the main dealer, never a problem but we take a picture of the mileage as some like taking my husbands, our car for a spin. Never had missing items.
My recommdeations are:
Report to ins co - they will note and see if the bloke has any other similar complaints. I'm sure its not him unless he is very stupid.
Re cops, you are wasting your time, their time, but your choice as you have no evidence.

This is a perfectly normal and sensible thing to do, it means, for example that if I nip down the dump without my wallet and decide to call by the shops on the way back I have enough money.

Why would you when you give them the keys to a vehicle potentially worth 10s of thousands of pounds?
For a start, the owner might notice much more quickly, and it's a lot harder to deny anything even went missing.0 -
Recently had my Motability Hyundai n/side rear lenses repaired at Nationwide Grimsby, the Motability approved repairer. I was sent a letter before the date, asking me to remove all personal and valuable items before taking the car in.
When I arrived, they gave me a form to sign stating that I had removed all items of a personal and valuable nature.
That's what should happen! But that aside, I also carry around £6 in coins beneath a duster under the dash. I would never leave that money when a third party was dealing with my car, that was your mistake, OP. It's called Temptation.
When I was a workshop foreman, I caught a new employee stealing from a customer's car. I got two of the lads to keep him in the Office and phoned the owner. He told me to sack him, paid off to the end of the week.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

I suspect it'd be a bit harder to get away with nicking the car than it is with pocketing the parking money...
