Under a year / Real treeI have today bought a tiny little spruce tree in a pot, it's about six inches tall. I have a tiny little set of lights on it. It stands on the bookshelf.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
Mine is 3 years old, i don't like it anymore, it has berries and cones and some really thick branches that you can't hang anything from.
When it goes up I'm always grumpy as the children have to decorate it, my husband insists warm white lights are boring so it's multi coloured, and the angel is one my husband made 39ish years ago - I'm not a fan of home made decorations by hamfisted children that don't match my colour scheme!!
I appreciate that sounds very Grinchy but I can't help it and I do grin and bear it whilst I long for a Christmas out of a Good Home magazine, though I expect when there comes a time for that I shall be lamenting of the days when the children would decorate the tree....
My mother always said I was contraryMake £2023 in 2023 (#36) £3479.30/£2023

My mother always said I was contraryWhat's going on?, my daughter has informed me that she is having her Christmas tree 'professionally decorated', apparently one of the parents in my grandson's nursery is offering to professionally personalise Christmas trees, at a cost of £50 per tree.
First off do you need a degree in decorating a Christmas tree? ap she's fully booked and there's a facebook page for 'who's tree looks the best', I think the world has gone mad.0 -
16-20 yearsI'm not sure exactly. DH had it already when we first got together, and it was a good few years old by that point, but still going strong.
Was bought in Belgium, spent a few Christmases there, then a few in Holland, then into storage in East Sussex for a while, before being revived here in Somerset. She has spent the last 2 years in hiding, as our DD was younger and seemingly incapable of leaving the decorations alone, or being trusted around it for more than 2 seconds. We used a smaller tree in those years, up on a shelf she couldn't reach. She's a bit older now, so it's less of a worry and the tree is back up!
Nothing wrong with that tree. Got LOTS of life left in it!February wins: Theatre tickets0 -

21-25 yearsMy tree has a St Nicholas on the top instead of a fairy. My Dutch friend made it for us when we celebrated Dutch Christmas on the 6th December in 1992.0

26+ yearsHi - I hadn't realised so many people kept their trees - ours is 47 years old and still looking much nicer than some of the newer models. Plain green but easy to dress and a really good shape too!!0

Absolutely no idea how old it is. Dumped the last one because it was way too big for my small house & was starting to look tatty. But I suspect I replaced the last one after my mother was no longer able to join us on Xmas day - so pushing 8 years now.0

26+ yearsI bought my 6ft green plastic tree, 40 years ago, which I gave to my daughter with a few small '50s baubels and some decorations from the 70s. Plastic doll angel lasted 20 years.0
