For a good number of years we had a live Christmas tree that my dad used to dig up and replant in the garden every year until it decided it had had enough and died!0

11-15 yearsMine is about 12 years old and still going strong ... I have never been able to get one of the legs off .. so it lives in the spare room in a bin liner ... moving to our room if we have visitors.
My parents used to buy a rooted tree in a pot and keep in the garden for 3-4 years (bringing in for christmas) . There are about 6 stunted Christmas trees surviving in my dad's garden now!Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0 -
21-25 yearsBought it in the January sales when on holiday.
It was pre-Ryanair times, but it still took some inventive packing/judicious wearing of several layers of clothing to allow us to count the Christmas tree as one of our 'bags' :rotfl:
It still looks amazingly good, especially given its age and the number of times it has been knocked over.
I wonder if it has a portrait in the attic...? :eek:What would Buzz do?
I used to be Snow White - but I drifted.0 -
1-5 yearsOurs is about three or four years old I think. The previous one was bought by OH’s ex and we used it for nigh on 10 years before I put my foot down and insisted on a new one. This is a pre lit one but the cable for it was lost somewhere so it doesn’t light up! A lot of the baubles have been bought in the last couple of years so when I put it up this year it actually looks quite good as the baubles are very shiny- who needs lights*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200

21-25 yearsWe've had 3 different cats and not one of them has ever been a problem with our artificial trees. We put a length of velvet cloth around the base to cover up the legs, they occasionally like curling up under the tree on the velvet.Make £2025 in 2025

Under a year / Real treeWow! It'll be interesting to hear whether anyone can beat a 51 year old Christmas tree decoration!
Not a tree decoration, but my paper streamers are from 1952 - my nan and grandad bought them for the first married Christmas and nan gave them to me a few years ago, as she can't put them up any more. They are still in surprisingly good condition, and I get them out every year. I have all their old decorations in my house, all dating from the 50s and 60s - baubles (my favourites are the inverted ones that catch the light), foil decorations, a string of silver bells instead of tinsel, and in pride of place, a little glass bird on a clip who sits at the top of the tree. Nan worked in the factory where they made them, hand-painting the birds.
I keep them all in her boxes too - a cracker box from the 60s, a shoe box from the 50s and a plastic Woolworths bag that's probably from the 80s. The string of bells is wrapped around a piece of card from a box of broken biscuits (grandad's favourite). My house is full of lovely memories at Christmas!0 -
6-10 yearsMy tree is about 15 years old.
None of my decorations are older than that, but my parents still have some glass golden pears, which belonged to my great-grandparents and which are over 100 years old, and quite a lot which belonged to my grandparents and are probably 60+ years old.All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0
