Hi
I have received some pretty scary messages via FaceBook - the person messaging me is unknown but they seem to know some very personal stuff.
Is there anyway I can trace this anonymous person please?

Ask Facebook. Or report it to the police and hope that they will do something. But don't hold your breath in either case.0

Just block them, the only info they will have will be stuff you posted publicly or similar.
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Report it to facebook and the police. And tighten up your facebook privacy levels.0 -

You say personal so I take it not the kind of stuff you wouldn't put on facebook or have you ?0 -

No, the information is very personal and has never been shared of FB. The info is only known to a small handful of people. I have blocked now and will report to FB.
Thanks for the replies.0 -

Dial 101, advise the cops the nature of the abuse and you are fearful and if you feel they are trying to blackmail you. Insist that it has made you fearful and they will have to trace and take action unless the culprit is doing this via an internet cafe or an unregistered phone.
The FB, I would not go on it if they paid me.
FYI, ensure you meet this criteria: A threat is a communicated intent to inflict harm or loss on another person. A threat is considered an act of coercion. ... Some of the more common types of threats forbidden by law are those made with an intent to obtain a monetary advantage or to compel a person to act against his or her will.0
