You're mixing up two topics. VariRate means that it's a variable tariff, i.e. the prices can change go up or down at any time depending on the market, nothing is fixed. Single rate means that you are charged the same unit rate 24/7.

Bulb are one of the many suppliers who will just add the two readings together, you don't need a meter change. You need to find out the E7 rates and the single rates (they're completely different) and then do the sums from your accurate meter readings to see which works out cheaper for you. As previously stated, you could even switch on a seasonal basis if it's worth it.

Bulb -When on an Economy 7 meter, members must be on a 2-rate agreement. This means they’ll pay a cheaper unit rate off-peak.

Dandtf - can you give us the readings when you switched to Bulb please (they will be on your first bill)
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

Looks like they've changed: they certainly did offer single rate with an E7 meter because I was with Bulb quite recently.

It's probably part of the desperate drive to blackmail people into getting smart meters. :(

Try better companies such as Avro and Yorkshire Energy who are cost effective with low night usage.

Thanks as i say I'm only new to Bulb
Whey have managed to be slightly less expensive since SSE and very competitive since SP-Scottish power.
I was always interested to know what cost bulb could bear over winter, at least I'm getting an early idea and i have left hall storage heater on low all year with very little cost.

Please refer to my 800watts heater and let me know if this is a one room temp option.

It'll be as good as 800W from any other plug in electric heater (or even eight 100W tungsten lightbulbs) and your kWh will be about the most expensive that you can get, especially with crippling daytime E7 rates.

Less cost than 2kw heater, hopefully.

That concludes this thread until yearly Bulb statement from Bulb q1 2020.
Thanks mser's I'll continue to keep e7 heating limited hopefully not go much above 85 pounds per month by keeping an eye on usage -part time work means home more often hence heating costs can and will rise.
