Please stop thinking in terms of DD - what is important is how much energy you use and how much you pay per unit.

It was probably a bad decision to replace the lounge S/H by a electric fire.

You seem very vague as to what your night hours are - the practical way is to look at your meter say every half hour and see when it switches over.

Can you post the readings from when you moved in (they will be on your first bill) and today please.

    1storage heater in hall
    1 panel heater bedroom
    Both e7
1-2k fan fire place living room -e7 as I believe that replaced a storage heater.
Not sure if Bulb supply single rate as their tariff is called Vari Rate

You're mixing up two topics. VariRate means that it's a variable tariff, i.e. the prices can change go up or down at any time depending on the market, nothing is fixed. Single rate means that you are charged the same unit rate 24/7.

Bulb are one of the many suppliers who will just add the two readings together, you don't need a meter change. You need to find out the E7 rates and the single rates (they're completely different) and then do the sums from your accurate meter readings to see which works out cheaper for you. As previously stated, you could even switch on a seasonal basis if it's worth it.

    Thanks mser's

As this is 75% year 1 with bulb
I cannot access a full year from previous Sse.
My current usage with bulb seems fine and their projecting 7.6 Kw total elec use 1st year more accurate next year .

Single rate considerations are new to me always believing E7 storage heaters need E7 tariff.
Have some time tomorrow late morning into early afternoon maybe I could call bulb.
I monitor my own elec use via Meter day/night and bulb website.

    Just one, straightforward tariff
We have just one tariff, so you're always on our best deal

Just give us the readings you've got with Bulb please.

What do you mean by "7.6kw" - predictions of use are in kwh (and would read 7600kwh)

Forget estimated usage, you need accurate information. Use actual meter readings a year apart. My estimated annual electricity usage shown on the bill is almost exactly twice my actual usage !

Storage heaters are usually cheaper with a two-rate tariff. However, that assumes they're the only form of space heating and they're used in anger. On most tariffs you have to have quite a high percentage used at night to make it worthwhile because the day rate and standing charge are usually higher. If you have panel radiators and only use just one storage heater lightly, then the traditional model may not work best for you throughout the whole year.

You need to get a better 'feel' for what's happening so that you can work things out from first principles rather than relying on advertising spin and inaccurate assumptions. Just do the sums yourself.

Bulb doesn't have one only tariff. They have totally different pricing for single rate, E7 and top-up (pre-paid) so effectively there are four tariffs. You can see them more clearly at https://bulb.co.uk/tariff/ With any given meter you can choose whichever of the two suits you better.

Check out the total annual cost on E7 then try again saying that you don't have an E7 meter. As previously mentioned, you could try a shorter periods e.g. November to March and April to October to see whether it's worth having E7 only during the colder months.

    Hope today goes well

From the above - what is the estimated night usage please

Your estimated day usage is very high at 7656 kWh. If that is true then your daytime electric alone is £1500 a year and makes a mockery of your quoted DD's

Your actual consumption over the last 9 months will be a better indicator than Bulb's educated guesstimates.

If you can post a copy of your bill please - blank out the personal info - I think that will help rather than do it in bits and drabs.
