999 calls not recorded in Android phone Call History

Yes. As I suggested, your non-Android phones have a hack to detect emergency calls and add them to the call log. By the sounds of it, Android phones don't.
You are talking utter nonsence.
The default android dialer does not log emergency calls on the 3 numbers by design.
Other dialers are other dialers. Not a hack.
You prbably would not know a hack if you were one. Which your prose suggests you are.0 -
We shouldn't have to find a work around for basic features
For the one or two people who think it's important - install an alternative dialler app that supports it.
I'm quite happy that the Android developers are spending their time on resources on something else that's actually useful.0 -
I think Motorola are telling the truth. Not logging emergency calls is a known feature of Android. However many manufacturers of Android phones choose to install their own custom dialler apps which ignore this feature and log emergency calls anyway. Motorola is one of the few who don't.
Although a know feature; during my research prior to purchasing an Android device, being unable to log 999 calls was never mentioned, online or elsewhere.0 -

I doubt whether even 2% of users would state this as a feature that they are interested in. As such it will be way down a priority list for a software developer.0 -

However, within my first post I stated: If this is a feature that is of importance, then dont use an Android phone.
My second post included the following:
For everyday phone users, this probably makes no difference but it's of paramount importance for myself and maybe to other phone users who regulary make 999 calls and, require a quick and convenient means of referencing details of such calls.
My work around is to revert to an iPhone, as my experience of Android doesn't come close to that of my iPhone.
My phones are used mainly for making and receiving phone calls and on occasions I'm required to submit a written report of when a call was made, especially 999 calls; and although such details are available from my phone bill, it's more convenient to quickly access such details via the phones Call History, which I've become accustomed to.
I posted my discovery on this forum to raise awareness, to prevent phone users from entering into a 2 year contract with a new Android phone only to discover a niggling issue that may impede their everyday use of the phone.0 -

Would it not be better to raise awareness that it is not a problem and can be fixed by anyone for free in under thirty seconds? (and that the default state is a good thing which other manufacturers should think about).0 -

That was my point; apparently it's a know issue that Android OS doesn't log 999 call within its Call History, yet I've never read anything which states this.
The logging of 999 calls maybe of no importance to yourself but it is to me and it maybe of importance to other phone users who read this thread, and if so, those who already own an Android Phone can install the suggested app and those who haven't yet purchased, now know what to expect.0 -

In your opinion maybe but I do believe that the vast majority of callers to the Emergency Services are not in danger or someone accessing their phone; yes it does happen, especially in TV Dramas and Movies but in reality, it's probably less than 2%.
However, I've highlighted an issues which I believe is of importance and for the reasons stated; my work around, is a new iPhone.
Carrot007..... If you feel so strongly and you wish to raise awareness in regard to Apple and other manufacturers incorporating the ability log 999 Calls within a phones Call History; why not start your own thread and post your thoughts and opinions there.0 -

It's my work around and there's nothing you can do about it because it's my decision.
I'm able to this, because I'm contract free and not tied in; I can also afford to buy whichever phone I want.
There are too many niggling issues with Android, which haven't been apparent on any phone I've owned in the past.
Also, I don't like having to resolve issues by constantly installing, yet another app, which requires permissions to access unnecessary areas of my phone, display unwanted ads, unless I buy the pro version and granting permission to share my data.
After all, I know nothing of these app creators and what they and their apps are truly capable of.0
