  • Yes great idea..i actively report those that apply for jobs ive posted and ive stated "Local applicants..those applying 100 miles away will be reported" when i get 50 people apply and they either dont have a license to work or live 100 plus miles away and applying for NMW job.
Jobcentre wouldn't do anything so you're wasting your time
I guess you arent a nice person to work for then. How do you know these applicants are all unemployed and claiming?
I find it quite amusing tbh. How do they inform them? By post then they're just burning money, or by phone where they'll have to listen Vivaldi for half an hour:rotfl:
  • Having done this myself, the main thing is to use Indeed, to look at any job that is a walk/bus/train ride from you. Send all responses to Indeed jobs on the page, screenshot everything so you can get your phone out at each JC meeting and show the screenshots to the workcoach. Then use google to look for any local companies that have potential (all the large supermarkets, warehousing etc) and send them a pre-prepared email and attach your CV... save all in a file and again show the workcoach the list of emails.

Agencies are worth signing up to, and again all the time you spend on the application with them, all the emails you send them, daily ideally. Everything in an email for proof. Your email account is your best tool. All time spent doing CV work, keep changing, updating and ditto cover letters. It is all work searching.

Also do any courses you can. Colleges do maths/English courses for free, talk to work coach about those. Colleges also do work prep courses etc. All to write down to talk to work coach about.
For JC do not ever be late, always be compliant, show you want a job and work with them. It can be hard, but its for your money, and not having money is catastrophic in terms of living and bills (see all the poor guys on the streets if you doubt this fact). I hope you get what you want soon.
Remember when you judge someone, it does not define them ... You define yourself :j
  • could puff up daily activity, by walking along x road, asking shops etc about jobs.. hard to disprove!

There is no harm done if they are not, and it is rightly pointing out abuse of the system to those who are.

The “not nice” people here are the ones wasting the employer’s time to try to fraudulently claim benefits.

Reporting people to the jobcentre who arent claiming is wasting the jobcentres time. Secondly its not proof that they are abusing the system, they may have just made a mistake or thought i will try my luck anyway. It shows a nasty side to them to actively spend time trying to get peoples money stopped. They had better hope no sanctioned person comes looking for them. Its debatable whether it is sanctionable unless the claimant admits they purposely did it to avoid work.

Well baring in mind i live in East Anglia (The Bum on the map of UK) and when someone applies from Scotland i always ask how they intend to commute...same question when they apply from Manchester or Newcastle.

Also when advert states they need to be SIA licensed and they apply thinking a cook is a relevant license..or stating they lost last job as they stabbed the manager and would again if asked to not smoke ect.

Not really hard to see those who are actively wanting work and those trying there hardest not to be offer work.

Easy set yourself up as an employer with the jobcentre and you will have the same access as i have, then you wont need to ask but see for yourself.

No your mistaken...whats wasting my time is people who apply 100 miles away with no qualifications for the role and no interest.
Play the system all you want...just do it else where, pretty simple really.

I understand unsuitable applications are annoying. I just dont see why you would actively spend time trying to get peoples money stopped. Regarding distance alone, they may be willing to relocate.
People are judged on volume, this means they may apply for some jobs that are unsuitable and they may make a bad application just incase they somehow still manage to get offered an interview for an unsuitable job. If someone is just blatantly being a plank they will get found out sooner or later.
It is a reality that if you advertise through the findajob website especially that you will get some time wasters. Rethink how you advertise to reduce time wasting applications.

Because most hard working people rightly have a problem with people who deliberately abuse the welfare system. I don't expect you to understand that.

When I was hiring staff you could spot the applicants who were genuine and those who were not very easily.

How's job hunting going for yourself?

Sorry but no one is going to relocate for a job paying £7.83 an hour working in security...when they are not Licensed.

If it was a well paid salaried job with a nation wide company then yes id totally agree with you.

Im trying to offer genuine people who want work the opportunity to get back into (ok money is poor but alas im just the manager,Boss sets the pay rate) work and hopefully get some solid experience and a better looking CV.

Should have said..i always make a point of offering interviews to people 100 miles away and ask them how they intended to travel the 100 miles or what ever it is,however you say they will get found out in the end,how so if no one bothers to report them.

I relocated 370 miles for a part-time retail job paying £6.19 per hour and lasted over a year before moving onto a better job. I did have to put down a hotel address to avoid the employer discriminating my application as some stubbornly think people are not willing to relocate. I simply arranged for an afternoon interview, commuted by train and after securing the job I looked for a flatshare. I had no financial assistance, survived only on my salary. If I can do this others can surly survive on a minimum wage full-time job.
