You had a very valid point which was obscured by your incoherence. If you don't want that to happen, you need to proof read.

Identify the fuel pump relay. If it isn't labelled, it is the one that clicks when the ignition is on, then clicks again as the noise from the pump stops.

Identify the fuel return pipe at the engine, it will be the smaller of the two hoses at the ends of the pipe that goes to the injectors, remove it and put your syphon pipe where it used to be directed into your can.

Turn on the ignition, either fuel will briefly come out of your pipe into your can, or it will spray briefly out of the disconnected pipe if you have it wrong. Once you have the pipe that fuel comes out of safely directed into the can, remove the fuel pump relay and jump across the contact terminals with a wire or straightened paperclip (ignition off should work).

Obviously, be careful of spilled fuel and sparks and all that. And watch what is happening, it should easily pump 20 gallons an hour or more.

Depends on the complexity and likelihood of success

It's not the likelihood of success/failure that is the issue, it's the likelihood of being immolated.

Whatever you do, don't suck on a pipe to start the syphon effect. I can't find the article now, but I read a piece on the dangers of that, the damage can be far worse than that which can be fixed by a couple of extra-strong mints.

I'd* find a pipe between the tank and the fuel pump, disconnect or cut it, and let the fuel run out. If it's a full tank as the OP said, don't forget to have fuel-safe containers ready for the fuel to go into. You can get away with two, you can empty one into your replacement car while the other one is filling.

(* well, that's not exactly true, I'd connect a spare electric fuel pump to a couple of pipes, connect one end to the tank outlet and use that to pump the fuel out more quickly. But not everyone has spare fuel pump and pipe lying around, those that do probably wouldn't be asking.)
  • £50 of fuel not worth it?

I suppose you wouldn't bend down to pick up a £2 coin either.

No, not if it involved lifting a car, tools and fuel;)
