There's almost certainly an anti-syphon trap in the filler neck.
Your best bet is to break into the fuel lines, and pump it out.
Are we talking petrol or diesel...? Will you be putting it straight into your replacement car, or storing it?0 -
As above, it'll have an anti syphon device.
I'd put it up on ramps and remove the tank. Obviously it'll be heavy so you'll need help. And be carefull! You can have results or excuses, but not both.Challenge - be 14 Stone BY XMAS!

Is it worth it? 50 quid worth of fuel, how many quite worth of labour and hassle?0

Or you can attach a pipe to the output side of the fuel pump and pump it out a squirt at time by turning the ignition on and off repeatedly, as ignition on usually tells the pump to pressurize the high pressure side of the injection system.
On cars with a mechanical fuel pump this doesn't work.Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230 -

Is the car being taken away or are you expecting to drive it to it's final destination? You can have results or excuses, but not both.Challenge - be 14 Stone BY XMAS!

How much is is worth getting it? The fuel is worth circa 50 quid. I'd not be concerned with the effort personally
In the spirit of the forum, money saving, I'd say £50 worth of fuel is probably worth the effort for a lot of people on here.
Is it worth the risk if you don't know what you're doing? That's another question!!You can have results or excuses, but not both.Challenge - be 14 Stone BY XMAS!

If the car has a plastic tank and the OP has containers with 50 litres of capacity available, simply boring a small hole in the bottom of the tank would do the trick and just let it drain out.
Simple and effective. Just don't use an electric/cordless drill! You can have results or excuses, but not both.Challenge - be 14 Stone BY XMAS!
