  • Good morning all. It seems to be a chilly 'un here, no frost though.

You've had a bad night Silver-Oldie, I sympathise with you. It seems as if the whole world is asleep except yourself. Hope you get through the day all right.

Bella and AOD ,you seem to have done better with sleep, I didn't do so bad myself last night. Mind I often take Bo*ts herbal tablets which helps.

Candy girl, hope your Mum is OK

I went into Newcastle yesterday to pick up a parcel at Ca*h K*dston, then got the bus straight home. I had to be home by early afternoon anyway, and it was so cold, a raw damp cold, I just couldn't be bothered to trail about . Not like me usually I love the shops.

We're going to Metro Centre tomorrow though, and a friend has asked me to go to Newcastle with her on Sunday so I'll get my shopping mojo back probably.

We're looking after youngest Dgc today, it's his sister's school play. DD will be able to watch in peace, he's 8 months old, so as you can imagine, not one for sitting quietly. He likes to shout a bit and bang toys about.

You made some good points about staying up all night Wee Midgie, I was concerned when Mrs SD said she was doing it.

I'm also concerned about Nelski with her stale bread and gruel Christmas - can we have a whip round for her?

Speky, you seem to be settling into your new life well!!

Thanks for the Christmas song Tru.

Hope everyone has a reasonable day anyway,

    Take care folks

  • Scarlet Ribbons which herbal tablets do you take. I have tried various OC meds including Nytol but nothing helps! I have my puffing diffuser thing going all night with lavender permeating the air but that doesn't help either! x

    Morning folks.

Today is forecast to be the worst of the week and certainly the wind was riding overnight. There may be snow on Saturday so I'll make sure to head home earlier than normal.

Today I'm going down to Glasgow, have booked a dry hair cut first thing tomorrow morning as I can't leave it until after the hols. My hair grows so fast that it could be fine one day and too long the next!

    Thanks for Frosty tru.

TA - glad that you enjoyed Skipton.

ScarletRibbons - I never enjoyed the Metro Centre, far too crowded for me. Mind you I did go there sometimes. I lived close to the University (well both of them) and could walk into town.

Right, enough waffling, my day has to start.

I wish everyone a happy Thursday.

I've been missing in action for another couple of days - due to being really busy with dgk's. Back to more Nathan-sitting today. He was at the Paediatrician last week - was measured at 6ft3ins. Had to laugh at him yesterday, I came out with the phrase 'Your trackie-bottoms are half-mast!' ..................... then had to go through the rigmarole of explaining of the phrase and it referring to flags etc. That'll teach me to try to do 'idioms' with him. How on earth are you supposed to buy 28"waist trousers for somebody THAT height, when he's obsessed with wearing 'North Face' track suits?????

I'm taking his younger sister to our Church Panto this evening - performed by a small Christian-based Drama Group. This one is called 'The Night Before Christmas' and has been written by our Youth Leader.

Have a brilliant Old-Style, everybody - take care - luv Ollie xx
  • Morning everyone,

I stayed late in work yesterday for a bit then headed home, had my left overs, fixed my central heating, tidied up, wrote a christmas card to my neighbour I've yet to meet and got ready for work today. In bed for 10, asleep by half past.

Today I've been to the gym. I noticed that when I woke, my mind was alert and ready to seize the day, but it felt like my body wanted/needed the extra time in bed. Not because it's comfy but because it was soothing. That might be a load of b*ll*cks but thats honestly what it felt like this morning.

There is talks of me going into Manchester tomorrow on a date with this girl I've been texting since the weekend, but it's dependant on wither my friend (with his fiance and baby) are coming this weekend and when. I'll find out today. To prepare I need my haircut, which I have done for a week or so, after work. Then my night tonight will be spent fairly relaxed and perhaps giving a deeper clean to the flat, just in case, you know...

AoD - When you said you were shampooing the carpet yesterday, I thought it was that powder stuff you throw on the carpet then hoover up afterwards? I assume not. That's my typical male lack of housekeeping knowledge.
SD - I agree with Midgie. Very well said.
Lainey - I didn't even know you had a dog. I've too preoccupied with how Lu has been getting on. What kind?

Morning. It’s cold here today. Dd not well so she is still in bed. Will see how she is later she may go to school at lunchtime I am ment to be working at lunchtime but if she’s still I’ll i can’t Will also have to go later to one of my cleaning jobs so does mess the day around but can’t be helped

We have got most of the gifts now and I got quite a bit of food so not much to get for Christmas now
I am really looking forward to it this year. In years gone passed I have not enjoyed the run up to it but so far it’s good
  • Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

TA I never had any luck with lavender, it woke me up rather than helped me to sleep. Thankfully I was so tired last night I fell asleep reading, woke about 3 for the loo, was awake for a bit, and then drifted off till after 7am.

Its the carers meeting today not really fussed about going but OH wants to do some research and I have promised him lunch out, fish and chips in Sainsbugs.

The stuff the OT ordered came yesterday, I am not impressed, the walker will never stop him falling over you have to grip the handles for it to stop what he needs is one that you grip the handles for it to go, if he lets go it will stop......and may stop him going headlong, I have my doubts. The OT is coming back next week. He does not want to use the indoor one at all, he is ok moving about the house and if he is unsteady he uses his crutch. As for the thing with handles that fit the toilet.......they just shoved it in the loo, a very tight fit for either of us to sit and use the loo, OH complained when he used it. This morning I discovered that it is adjustable, so I have opened it up, we will see how we get on with it.

I did get to play with the machine for a while yesterday, made a couple of angels, not too bad but they could have been better. The film I ordered had a staple rip right through, I spoke to the lady at the store and she is sending me another lot. What I have I can use to patch the new film with. You dissolve the film in hot water once you have finished the design. I use sharp scissors and cut the finished design out so it does not leave too big a hole to patch. Then you just dampen the edges of your patch, it goes sticky and put it over the hole, leave it to dry and away you go

Its fine but we have had a frost, the house felt cool when I got up, its warming up now though. Hope the frost has cleared on the car when we are ready to go out.

No cooked supper for the next two nights, tomorrow is the Christmas lunch at the little chapel. Two days running we will eat at lunchtime. I have to get up early in the morning and shoot off to Aldi to get what bits of shopping I need. Mostly fruit, veg and milk.

    Morning all for Mehefinland,

    Cold
    Dark
    'Orrid

    About sums it up.

Laineythanks for asking about Scoobymare.. looks like the problem is about to resurrect itself. She is 20 now and we had her as a foal so she's done her bit. Mrs M was talking about possibly retiring her and has started looking at riding mares. The one she likes is miles away but not ridiculously expensive. I need persuading. We will see.

Hugs and spoons as always to those in need
