This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Good morning all
Can't sleep, went to bed about 10.30 and still wide awake.
DH is usually awake by 6 so I'll be lucky if I get three hour sleep. If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
Morning All
Thanks for the start SO, hope you've managed to get some sleep.
Not much happening here, looking forward to the end of term, it's absolutely mad at work! We had the seniors Christmas lunch yesterday - I just had the vegetables and they were lovely, especially the parsnips.
Hope your DM is OK Candy.
I'm meeting friends for something to eat after work today, our last meet up until after the festivities, should be a lot of good chat.
Thinking of the poorlies, carers and plain fed ups. Take care. XX0 -

Town wasn't too bad yesterday, I was relieved to get home thoughI met a cuddly rottweiler, she was all over me and kept giving me her paw. The owner said 'oooh she really likes you' and I had to confess to him that it's more likely to be the few dog treats that were still in my pocket

Mum is coming round for coffee later this morning. I like to get the housework done early in the day so I'll have to start really early, if I don't it won't get done at allI don't mind finishing things off later but I definitely won't get anything done if I leave it til after lunch, no matter how good my intentions, lol.
I have some receipts and lists to sort through, I'll do that this afternoon and I need to transfer some info from this year's diary into my new one. I need to speed up the crochet, that blanket won't be finished on time at this rate.

Morning all and thank you for starting today's thread silver-oldie, hope you have managed at least a little sleep.
Yesterday I reached the stage where I was fighting to stay awake so went to bed at a ridiculous hour and have slept for 7 hours, utter bliss.
Yesterday I shampood the hall carpet, is looking much fresher - it is hard work on the hands and shoulders.
Today I need to do various boring bits.
Hope everyone has as good a day as possible.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning everyone
silver-oldie - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.
Dinner last night fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg. Not sure about tonight, so will organise whilst I'm out today.
Yesterday we were not too busy at work - although for a time in the afternoon there was only me and a colleague so we'd have been in a mess if we'd had some difficult cases to deal with it, luckily it didn't happen. Now on days' off but have a mega "to do" list - because I haven't got myself organised and now have loads to do. I'm going to write a list in a mo, and then crack on.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all
Does not seem quite as cold here today but ive not been outside yet so it could be freezing
Work today and the nice Thursday group, Ive got to write a report today stating why I don't think someone is capable of getting a job, I hate doing these as you have to concentrate on the things a person cant do rather than what their strengths are and I find it a bit upsetting, I know its for the persons best interests but its hard.
Tonight will be the pork chops and mash we did not have last night, OH fancied burgers so we had them instead.
Must do a quick tidy round tonight and put a wash on..
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning
silver_oldie Is something praying on your mind? I hope you get a nap today

candy poor mum that must have really shook her up
chilli here today I need my fingerless gloves on
Bit of work to crack through today but mostly its ground to a halt now which is normal at this time of year but does mean some belt tightening. Some outstanding money owed but i doubt Ill get that before Christmas so its stale bread and gruel for me
Moroccan chicken was gorgeous last night and as always there is loads left so ill have some more tonight then freeze the rest
In other news kitchen floor needs a mop and I need to think pressies once more for a couple of friends then its over with again for another year (I wish) Busy weekend coming up so a christmas film will be required this avvy thinking maybe a Scrooge ...suits my mood
Anyway have a great day all0 -
Good morning everyone, a better night's sleep for me, about five and a half hours, back to normal after a few broken nights. I hope you manage a snooze at some point during the day, SO.
Well done getting the carpet done, aod. Not something I could attempt. Take it easy now.
Today there's nothing definite on the agenda and I think I'll take myself out for a cuppa, I need a change of scene and I have a couple of errands which I'll do first. Then back home to keep knitting.
Mrs SD! Please please be careful with your health... staying up all night puts a great deal of stress on the body and on internal time clocks controlling hormones and enzymes in all the body's systems and in the brain. The brain relies on sleep for several reasons, rest and regeneration amongst others, and also that's when a rinsing process takes place and waste gets removed from it. I hope you slept through last night and are feeling the benefit! End of lecture... But I get concerned when people override natural physical functions.
Thanks tru for the Christmas carols, they are very cheery!
Sending hugs to all in need, and wishing everyone the best day possible. xxx0 -
Morning folks and thanks SO. I sympathise I can normally get to sleep ok, I just can't stay asleep and back awake at silly o'clock. But last night I couldn't even get to sleep in the first place and tossed and turned all night.
Had a lovely day out in Skipton yesterday with my friend but oh it was cold! The market was in full swing but the town not overly busy. One or two purchases but nothing exciting! Enjoyed a lovely lunch and bottle of wine before heading for the bus home.
Today is shopping day. I think just Aldi will do and not a lot is needed. I have done my freezer sort out and an up to date inventory and I really do not need to be any more food for the freezers! It's ridiculous the amount of stuff there is out there and after the festive season I must try and live out of them and try and condense the contents to just one freezer.
The 3 DGDs are here for sleepover tonight but it will be a very late arrival as the 2 performers have both matinee and evening performances today, So it will be straight straight to bed after a quick supper as they need to be up for school in the morning.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) as always for the poorlies, carers, sad, worried or lonely. Thinking of HOLLY, POLLY and TAFF. xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0
