As I originally wrote in my original post:
'This TV has had a daily usage of approx 1hr per day. (It has never been left on standby mode').

I was going to suggest asking around locally.Just received a quote From local repairer to repair in a morning for £18.
Totally dead, no power is often a blown capacitor in the power supply unit, and cheap to fix.0 -
With any cheap TV it's very rarely going to be cost effective to pay for an independent report to establish whether an inherent fault was the cause of the malfunction. Even if the report supports your view (and there is no guarantee that would be the case), then you still wouldn't be granted a brand new replacement TV or a full refund.
To be honest, your £18 repair is probably going to be poor value too.
Next time, buy something a bit dearer from a reputable manufacturer.0 -
TV was repaired as promised for £18. (With full receipt)
£20 cash given...for great service and turn around.
Dropped off, swam a mile at local pool and picked up within 90 minutes of dropping off.
Happy ending...:beer:0 -

Weird mine is the same tv and broke within 19 months too just flickering on an off when I called Argos they said I will have to pay to prove it is broken and get a report before I can even get a TV back I am livid and by the looks of it they sold me a dodgy tv0

Then prove it and invoke your consumer rights, exactly as they have told you to do.
Argos do not have to do anything until you prove it is inherently faulty0
