Argos TV Only Lasted 19months (My rights please?)

  • Not going to get into any tit-for-tat about being aggressive for using exclamation marks etc.

I came here for advice and thanks to everyone that has offered me genuine help! :T

    Quote from above:

Basically, I have had approximately just under 19 months of usage at 1hr a day equalling approximately a total of 570 hours of usage. (I have not deducted any days it was not used i.e. for holidays etc)

This equates to: for every hour I have used this TV set it cost me 25.43p
But really the point is should a TV set only last 570 hours of usage (just 24 days full operating time...?) especially when you read: an LED TV's life is estimated to be between 60,000 to 100,000 hours

My other two main Led TV's are still going strong after 5 & 10 years

But it's also been on stand by as well.

As I originally wrote in my original post:

'This TV has had a daily usage of approx 1hr per day. (It has never been left on standby mode').
    ;)

My mistake - Was pretty long so skim read.

You watched one hour per day. Therefore it was 25p per day.

No need to get aggressive. You're not paying me to read your 'full post'.

But any advice I may have provided, I now wont. Good day.

Although in fairness to OP, most of your posts do come across passive agressive.
  • Just received a quote From local repairer to repair in a morning for £18.
I was going to suggest asking around locally.

Totally dead, no power is often a blown capacitor in the power supply unit, and cheap to fix.
  • With any cheap TV it's very rarely going to be cost effective to pay for an independent report to establish whether an inherent fault was the cause of the malfunction. Even if the report supports your view (and there is no guarantee that would be the case), then you still wouldn't be granted a brand new replacement TV or a full refund.
To be honest, your £18 repair is probably going to be poor value too.

Next time, buy something a bit dearer from a reputable manufacturer.
  • TV was repaired as promised for £18. (With full receipt)

£20 cash given...for great service and turn around.

Dropped off, swam a mile at local pool and picked up within 90 minutes of dropping off.

    Happy ending...

There's a difference between being blunt and being agressive

Then prove it and invoke your consumer rights, exactly as they have told you to do.

Argos do not have to do anything until you prove it is inherently faulty
